So, a fellow member asked me about the pigment I use and if it was RC Tritec, I told him no. But then I wanted to find out exactly what I am using. I hear a lot of talk about watchlume, w@tchlume and of course, superluminova.

According to what I read, what I use, is seemingly the same thing.

according to these links(for those that care):

Noctilumina has an agreement with the patent holder of Strontium Aluminate(the ingredient that brings the 'torch' to our watches). The patent holder is Nemoto & Co, who created a joint venture with RC Tritec ltd. named LumiNova AG Switzerland. Together, they released a product called "Swiss Super-LumiNova® pigments" to be sold throughout Europe and "selected overseas customers".

Thats all. Ive just always heard that Super-Luminova is the shit when it comes to pigments. I guess I was lucky enough to accidentally find a CONUS dealer that sells what seems pretty damn close to the same thing.

If you found that interested too, you're welcome :) If not, you may politely ask me to go to hell ;)

I ordered from w@tchlume, and watchlume. Watchlume came today. I'm a complete beginner. I worked on my gen D&G w/ Miyota quartz. Well, a broken stem was just the beginning. My other tools were yet to arrive, so I used my tweezers to get the hands out, and sure enough, they came out little bit bent.
Well the lume themselves weren't as bright as I expected. Well for the one that was in a blob, it was brighter than the lume from the noob factory; but my initial reaction was: Eh.

hehe, its ok. We all gotta start somewhere. My first two relumes are sitting in a box in pieces... but its all part of the learning curve. A couple months later and I have definitely improved. And I hope to get better one day. Next on the list is going to be better tools. Gotta hit the "bay" and grab a bunch of Bergeon stuff.

I have not used the stuff you use, I bought some stuff from watchlume.net and their product is mediocre at best, with the binder being absolute junk

The actual tritec binder tells you to mix thw stuff and wait like 30 mins before using, where as the watchlume stuff dries within 30 minutes or simply is not usable

You should get a bit of this stuff and see how it compares

I have to add, the product you use makes a HUGE difference

holy crap man, $40 for 1gm. Im not sure what drug dealers are wasting their time on crack for. They need to start slangin' lume pigment.

and thats quite funny that the prep time for SL is the same time that WL's stuff dies.

I have only tried one, but yes, I hear the product makes the difference. If anything, I will try some SL some day. I definitely wont be spending money on WL... unless I buy a big wallclock I want to relume. Then Ill just pour a whole bag of that crap on it.

do you have a first watch planned to try it with?

Yeah, I got 5 cheap Subs coming soon. 3 from Silix and 2 from Price Angels. For 35 a piece, I think it's alright, considering I can work on lumes and waterproofing for my other pricey watches :)

Do you recommend a specific watch?
