Hi Folks

I got my PAM 586Q ZF recently. I really like the watch, there is just a problem that the dial is slightly missaligned.

So today I opened the watch with a sticky ball.
I thought I probably could just move the whole assembly a little bit. (Was thinking that the dial/movement was hold by tabs...)

but it looks like this:

I guess I have to send it to a watchsmith to properly dissasemble and refit. Or do I even need a new dial? Hoping for some good input from the experts here

thanks a lot

Take a look at the second link posted above, that should give you a good idea as to the movement removal. You will not need a new dial, but you'll probably need to break the feet off and use dial stickers to manually align.

Thanks a lot! This will help me/or my watchmaker a lot!

Phil

by the way:
this is a pic from the front. Do you see also that it is missaligned? Or is it just me?

It's you...forget about it and enjoy the watch...dials have small "feet" that get inserted into the plate movement.

Its really misaligned. How to enjoy the watch when anyone can tell the dial is slanted? The degree of misalignment is significant and yet the stem can be inserted. Might be a problem with the dial feet. To align the dial, better take it to a watchsmith.

Compare it to the date wheel to see how "misaligned" it really is... I don't see it...

To be completely honest OP, you are correct... it is slightly misaligned, at least in the pic you provided. The date is a little too low, but it is minimal. So spending time and money fixing that is up to you. Also, sometimes the DWO's are printed 100% perfect, so as you click through later dates, itll creep its way up and be centered as some point.

I agree with Strodda. Sometimes we see thing "really off" out of our own paranoia... It may also be emphasized because of the fact that pams have the huge crown guard that destabilizes the visual symmetrical balance of the whole...

thanks for your oppinions. I really think about getting this corrected, because this is a special watch to me (I have strong relations to brazil) so I want to get it as perfect it can be.
In the store I work (fancy supermarket) I already got compliments for the watch from customers :D

For me the date is not what bothers me most, i feel that Luminor GMT /Panerai is missaligned so the whole numbers are a tad missaligned... It is minimal but its there.

I agree it is misaligned. We all work so hard and do the research and choose the "right" watch, and when it arrives with an obvious defect it is hard to overlook....at least it would be for me.

Everybody has a different tolerance or opinion on what is acceptable and what isn't. It really doesnt matter what we think. SOme will say it is badly misaligned, and others will say its just fine and wear it.

If it bugs you, then you wont want to wear the watch. If it is bothering you have it fixed. I know Katt could fix that problem in a heartbeat.

Follow your gut...and either way I hope you enjoy the piece. Wear it in good health!!
