DHGate Seamaster 2541's advice

I've been looking for a 2541 or 2531 SMP rep for ages. I have a gen 1993 mid size but always wanted the 41mm instead.

Looking on DHGate there are still some seller selling reps, all the listed items don't have the Omega branding (crown, dial etc) and the listing pictures all seem the same despite being from different sellers.

I know this model is old now so I'm resigned to the fact that they're not likely to be replicated again anytime soon. Has anyone any experience of buying one of these from DHGate or in fact other models, I'm wondering if they're delivered with the branding really and do I need to look out for scammers on DHGate?

Thanks

Got the midsize in gen, think the 36mm size is a huge plus for me.
I’ve seen a couple of Peter Blake models on DHGate, reckon you shouldn’t have a problem with your 2541. Try contacting the dealers

Many of the DHGATE reps will have proper logo branding even if not shown in ad pics. Often you can see this in review pics so look at those.

Here is an example - look at the review pics

Be aware that a lot of these chronos are quartz.
As such the subdials are usually wrong. The 3 or 6 subdial is often a 12 or 24 hour repeater with a wrong scale. The subdial for running seconds can have the wrong scale. The chrono hand might always run. So just know what you are buying.

But still: I’d recommend saving up and buying one used from Japan like I did (Chrono24)
I've seen some reasonably priced ones on eBay from Japan but since brexit there's 24% on the hammer price for UK now, factor that in and it's no cheaper than buying from the UK. I was offered a minter for £1700 recently, in hindsight should have accepted. Ideally I'd part-x my mid sized for a 41mm.

ah just noticed the extra pics in the buyers reviews section, now I'm tempted, thanks for that!. To be honest I'm not precious over the movement, in fact I'd prefer a good quartz in this model. I actually like that my gen midsize is quartz, I've worn it day and night for approx 15 years and I've had 2 batteries fitted in that time.

At these price points the quality will most likely disappoint you, especially as a gen owner. I do have a couple reps from DHGATE but there is a reason they are affectionately known as "DHGATE shitters". Just set your expectations accordingly.

Oof, yeah Brexit. Forgot about that. Well you can always trade in your midsize smp for a full size then :) might be more worth it than this in the long run.
Btw good luck with it!
