DHGate Experiences

I have recently begun collecting again and I have made 5 purchases in the last couple weeks.

There are some watches that are not offered on dealer sites due to not being as popular. Zenith, Carl F Bucherer, Parmigiani etc.

I have found some cheapies on DHGate that use their photos. I have never purchased anything from there so I am curious, do they use a base photo without the brand logo and then after purchase send you one with the logo?

Here is an example -

I know this would not be top quality. Also in the spirit of honesty it is more because it is a watch I have always liked and would maybe use as a beater and to have on display in the watch box. So, I am curious to what everyone has experienced.

Thank you, John

For the price some of these cheapies are quite good. But don´t expect too much. The Bucherer for example is a quartz watch. But that don´t have to be a disadvantage, cause there is at least a chance, that the chrono might work. Nevertheless it looks like the chrono second (big central second) is the normal second on this rep ;-)

im just confused with the represented images. They advertise some of the actual models and some of the pictures are without the brand name. I wonder if they just take it off for legal sales purposes?

Yes, the pics are greeked for DHg policy. They will come with the logo. PM the seller and ask for pics of the actual watch, most will provide them on request

A lot of members buy from the Gate, it's a good place for sourcing the cheap and cheerful end of the rep market. As Hor-Fan says, if the typical logo/branded areas of the dial are blank in their photos, they've been Photoshopped by the seller to avoid rights issues, and the watch you get will have the branding. But yes, always check this with the seller when ordering.

Also note that there are cheap "homage" versions of many branded watches, which avoid copyright issues by using an alternative logo, such as "Invicta" and with these, the logo you see is the logo you get.

Thank you, I was concerned it would be a homage or blank watch. The seller replied and it comes with the logo.

The cheap dhgate watches are interesting for a short time, then the imperfections grow bigger/louder in your eyes/ears until you can't stomach them anymore... Sorry, that's just me. I still have a few in the bottom of the drawer, and I don't know whether to toss them in the bin or what.

Yes, I was sent a "QC" photo and you can definitely see the imperfections way more compared to the factories that make some of the higher end stuff.

It is mainly for watches that I dont see being repped anywhere and are a little too out of the range for a gen (not just price) but something I would not wear as often of prefer to invest in ie Rolex Breitling TAG etc.

If you scroll thru the pics in that link the other pics have the logo. Just the first one is edited

Save your money and buy a decent rep. Those watches you are interested in will not only be low in quality, but they also won’t last long.
