It not exactly breaking news that all the trusted dealers are having trouble sourcing swiss swan-neck movements for the popular crystal-back Pannys like 127, 111, etc... but I guess what I'm wondering is what everyone's doing about it?

Have sales dropped off to nothing?

Are you settling for closed-back models when you might not have before?

Are you not so concerned and settling for a non-swan neck movement?

I feel like I'm in limbo here waiting for one of the dealers to announce that they have the movement back in stock, followed (I'm sure) by a mad rush to snatch up whatever limited supply they may get their hands on. So what are you guys doing about it?

Love to hear any input!

I actually already made the switch to closed-back movements watches... i just find the inaccuracies of any open casebacks too distasteful.... the only one I have right now is a DSN 176... and I'm only holding onto that one for the right trade opportunity...

Expect to see a lot of the vintage closed-back Panerai to come out.... it should be exciting for those of who love the brand...

I'm also having trouble sourcing an E-series 6497 asian swan-neck for my 127, nevermind a swiss.

Yeah, I'm not seeking a swiss movement at this point (unless by some miracle a member decides to sells theirs), but unfortunately even the asian version seems to be perennially two weeks away according to most dealers. :(

Before I didn't want the asian version, and now I can't get it! Damn my caution! :)

Are we reaching a point when good reps become collectors items?
What's the going rate for say a swiss movement, unmodded 111 from Andrew, Ed or Dsn these days?

Damn. We better dig up that thread on selling above cost.

Once again, the "no selling for profit" rule doesn't mean you can't sell your watch at the CURRENT MARKET VALUE. It was a rule put in place by D4Me to stop people from "backdoor dealing" in the member FS area. If I sell 3 BNIB reps every month, chances are these aren't all watches I bought with the intent of wearing and then just decided they weren't my style, right? THAT is what the rule is addressing. The rule isn't meant to say you can only sell your ultra-rare rep for $200 since that's what you bought it for 3 years ago.

Not picking on you, Fakes. I see people misrepresenting this rule often, both here and on other forums.
