...arrived today, went to work on the case and lume to make it look a little 'older',

Unfortunatly the leather I got from E-bay that was supposed to be for a strap was too thick, still I had a practice at saddle stitch (my first time for any leatherwork!), I think I will be better next time,

thiner leather is on order and I'll sew a a strap around the fixed lugs, until then I have it on a NATO strap,

Very nice watch and mods.

Your strap looks great, especially if that is a first effort.

You may just be a natural at making straps!

Thanks Nico,
It's my first effort and I learned a lot!
The leather was way too thick, it's 3mm so 6mm when folded, I will try some 2mm when it arrives.

I have a 5mm natural calf leather strap on my 127, and it is on the limit of fitting comforatbly at the lugs.

Any thicker and it would not fit, so I guess 2-2.5mm leather is required if you were going to make a strap for a Fiddy.

Please post pics of your next strap projects. I am sure everyone will be interested to see what you can achieve.

thanks, it was my first time trying to 'age' a dial, I used a water based brown ink, can't say I'm 100% happy but it looks OK.
If you look too closely it doesn't look good but overall the effect is OK.

thx for sharing!

even though it is water color, but if u apply diff shades of brown, it will still look good.

Nice work on the strap. Very clean for your first. The thicker ones can be tricky trying to get enough case clearence.

I've made 5mm-6mm straps to fit onto 44mm pam cases. For fun made a 7mm for a 47mm case. That was insanely thick but I had to try it just to fulfill my curiosity.

It all depends on the look you are trying to achieve.

Nice job. Still thinking about this one -vs- some of DSN's others. Certainly a highly unusual PAM.

Nice ageing - seems like the thinner straps are the go here...

strap for DSN Deco

-

So, mine's coming - sans strap. I have to find a nice strap for this one - any suggestions? I know it has to be thinner and then has to be sewn on..

update: found one at germano.de - courtesy of @panera, thanks mate!

Cheers, BBB

Great strap! I'm going to go for a military 1940s style strap. About to order it - don't have your strap skills :?

Is your strap 26/26? I normally wear 135 / 80 in my 47mm ... so I'm ASSUMING that w/ the 1940s military style like this one:

1940s_Mil_style_PAM.jpg

That I can order the same size for my Deco. Do you think I'm right, or should I be getting it made a bit longer for this style?

Thx mate!

They do look great!

What size did you get? And did you slightly increase the size over what you normally get?

Germano Or Watchinger strap

26/26 is ok but dont forget its quite thick and hard like rock. you have to soak it in some kind of liquid inorder to get soften... Than apply patina color on it. To give wrinkles Make it wrap l?ke sushi :) Keep ?t a wihe It gives wrinkles on it.

Try Watchinger straps also (cause cheaper than germano)
