Debatable Rehaut Alignment?

Hey folks,

I just received the QC pics for a nice CF Pepsi I ordered a couple of weeks ago. The overall appearance, watch face, datewheel alignment etc. are fine to my eye (the DW is really nice imo). Only the letter alignment on the rehaut - especially crown and serial number - is a little off I think. I am not quite sure, if it‘s „too bad to keep it“ or to give the TD green light for shipping. This is why your honest opinion would be very much appreciated.

I asked the TD for some additional photos of the rehaut at an angle, so it can be seen better. Will upload them as well, once they have arrived.

I agree.

On the other hand, this is the current top of the line model from Clean with a DD3285 movement etc. It comes at USD 638 (incl. shipping) which is not a bargain for a "Chinese fake toy"

But overall, I'm pretty sure it's worth the cost I think. Beautiful piece imo.

The real deal costs >20K, so this Chinese copy is definitely a bargain. Even at 600 USD.

You're right, there are small misalignments on Gens, as well.

It is typically the lettering or the serial which is a little off. Especially the numbers are affected, because they have different dimensions (e.g. "1" is narrower than others), of course.

However, I have never seen a misaligned crown (12 o' clock) on the rehaut of a Gen. A pretty big give away in my book.

Depends on what you compare it to. Compared to the Gen, this is a bargain, of course. Compared to other Reps, it isn't.

I personally think comparing Gen to Rep in terms of value is comparing apples to oranges. I am only comparing Reps to Reps here. But I don't want to start a debate on principles, since this is a total matter of faith and has led to stormy discussions in the past

Genuine question, how bad is the misalignment?
I'm looking at a gen pic, and it has crown at 12, R at 9 and X at 3. This doesn't seem any different?
On Steve's pics, the S/N I guess is a little off (starts at 26 mins, finishes 0.5mm before 34 mins) which seems to be down to the engraving, not the alignment. I think I'd green light it.

After looking at those, I'm convinced the watch is good to go. I've seen better in regards of the crown, which is not 100% dead center. But apart from that I am very pleased with it. Additionally, in day to day use one would never have this kind of a close up look at the rehaut. From a couple of centimeters away, it should look pristine.

I will just impart this tidbit of knowledge. It's not the rehalt that's misaligned but the dial. If it really bothers you when you receive it you can open the case back loosen the movement tabs and rotate the entire movement slightly for better alignment. You have about half a millimeter play in either direction to adjust. It cannot be the rehault because that's engraved on the mid case and fixed in position so there is no adjustment that can be done.

The watch looks great, if that really bothers you, you should be able to have it aligned by a watchmaker without any major problems. Or you can do the whole thing yourself.

Compared to the E300, the E63 is expensive, but if you compare it to the children's bikes that Mercedes-Benz offers, it's far too much for something with wheels

PS: But let me just add this... What helped me to develop more leniency and become more realistic in my expectations is this:

Search for your "defect" on Google and see on the gen fora how common your supposed flaw is on gen Rolexes (watches that cost almost 20 times more).

I bet you'll find a few...
