Tag Heuer Carrera Day Date pics + mini review
Model: Carrera Day-Date s/n CV2A11
Movement: A7750@28,800 bph
Case diameter: 43 mm
Maker: not specified
Dealer: Tony/Asian7750
This rep has been out for a while, and you can find some nice reviews from some time ago (way better than mine for sure ) by Onzenuub here, b16a2 here and P4GTR here.
Since there has been a recent update on the Tag Heuer logo in the dial, and since I do really enjoy shooting pics of my watches, I decided to refresh the info a bit hoping somebody finds this useful, or at least enjoys the pics
Some members seem to have a problem with pointing out the flaws of a rep, so I'll say this before starting the review: I totally love this watch, and I recommend anyone interested in it to buy it because they will not be disappointed. Nonetheless it's a rep, and as such it has flaws. The point of this and other reviews is to show them to potential buyers in order to give them a chance to know what to expect from this watch.
CASE
As far as I can tell, the case is plain perfect. Although some earlier version came with an incorrect 41 mm case, this one comes with the correct 43 mm without crown size, as per gen. Lug shape, crown and pushers shape are almost exactly like gen. Maybe the red line in the upper chrono pusher is a little too thick, but nothing major at all.
Numerals on the bezel are well executed, defined and correct as per gen. The case is completely polished, with a good shine on it.
DIAL

Rep:
The dial of this watch is simply amazing. Its design is perfectly balanced, the upper and lower recessed sub dials with concentric rings and seconds sub dial with the red accent give the watch an elegant yet sporty look, especially with the white dial.
Anyway, the most evident flaws are here and are represented by the wrong colored outer ring of the sub dials, it is light grey in gen and dark grey in rep. On the same sub dials, the thicker ring in the middle should be grey while it's polished steel in rep.
Call me crazy, but I find the rep dial more balanced in colors, more vibrant, that's why I'm not bothered at all by these flaws
The date window has a polished outline, while gen is the same color of the subdials' outer ring.
The Tag Heuer logo on top of it has recently been updated and shows the correct shape of "G" letter with double arrow.
The numeral indices are another known flaw of this rep and it does not seem like that have been updated.
Upon close inspection you can see that some numbers look a bit crooked (i.e. One number is higher than the other). More noticeable in 05, 15, 25 and 35 marker. I bet you didn't notice this before I mentioned it
Hands look almost perfect to me, only difference is the red tip of the large seconds hand is a bit shorter than gen. Color is spot on.
CASEBACK
The caseback shows the real giveaway of this rep: the blue screws!
WTF were the makers thinking when they decided to put blue screws on the movement while they are not colored in gen? I don't know, and probably no one does, but this is how it is
TBH this is a flaw that can be corrected with little effort, I recall a greatly informative thread by Ssteel in which he bought standard ETA screws and replaced them, but still... What a foolish error by the makers icard:
Anyway, apart this flaw, the case back looks gorgeous, the movement finish is nice, the rotor has the correct shape and engravings (though the decoration is not perfectly spot on).
About the engravings, unluckily the case back is engraved with the incorrect model no. for white dial, CV2A10 instead of CV2A11, but hey, you'll notice the blue screws first so who cares?
BRACELET
The brushed bracelet with polished accent is very well executed, it's smooth and solid. Links are linked ( :' ) with pins. I don't know if it's the same in gen.
Clasp is solid and closes firmly.
I bought an extra deployant clasp for this watch, and it's very good quality too.
CONCLUSIONS
As I said at the beginning, this watch has a bunch of flaws, but I think they are not very noticeable (except blue screws that is). The building quality is good, and it gives a gen-like feeling in the wrist. It looks gorgeous on the bracelet and with a nice strap as well. It goes well with a shirt and a pair of jeans as well as with a more formal wear. All in all one of my favourites.

And a wristie:
As usual feel free to comment any inaccuracies, I will happily update the review.
Thanks for reading/looking, and for giving me the opportunity to share my passion.
