Date change differences between gen and rep? Just compared with 2 gens

Was a friends house tonight and he was wearing a PAM 164 (about 10 months old) we were talking about date changes (since my A7750 PAM88 starts to change date at about 11:40 and gradually changes over) and he said that his watch change instantly at midnight. Well, I had to see it. So i took his watch and sure enough!! INSTANT!! another friend was wearing a Submersible. Let me borrow that I said! Same thing!!! Instant date change at 12:00.
So, is it a PAnerai modification? A newer movement? it sure did not work like my 88. I know, I was there and trind with my own hands.

If anyone has a newer gen please check the date change and let us know. I'll try to grab a video from my friend's. A few other people have attested to the instant date change over rather than gradual.
