I decided to build a very special project today. My father passed away a little over 3 years ago and I have been clearing out his house. Last week I found his old Hamilton. It was his work watch. The bracelet was in rough shape and case worn but the movement was still clean and running great. Not as well kept as his Omegas but a super movement. This is an ETA 2836 built to spec as Hamiltons 836 caliber. I just had to do something special with it. All you guys who have seen my builds know that something special usually means something Tudor...

Here is Dad's Hammy 836

It is really great to wear this watch knowing that the same works that served Dad well for so many years is still here ticking.

Even though he can't be.

Thanks xj and DVNE I enjoyed this build quite a lot. I found myself recalling all sorts of memories with Dad. It was a really nice day at the watch bench.[emoji4]

Definitely a great build and a great story!
Something that was your dad's that can be passed down in your family as well.

the way some of us churn watches there isnt much sentimentality, but that was great to see.

I am guilty like the rest of us of flipping through watches every day! Typically I choose from a collection that stays around 20-30 pieces.

Since building this one I have worn it every day.

Dad also left me a pair of gen Omega Constellations but this is the watch that I feel a connection with him through. Maybe it is because part of it came from him and part from me.

I am glad you all are enjoying this build and story as well. I now understand why guys want to take their old grandad's beat up pocket watch movement and build a wristwatch from it. Something magical happens and you become closer to someone who was very dear to you.
