The subject of how accurate DSN's replicas are to the originals seems to rage on. I'm considering pulling the trigger on one of his 'new' 112s. I'll probably do this despite any really negative feedback, but I just want to know what the 'real deal' is and does the sum of the mods add up to a worthwhile investment oover cheaper reps, without the hassle of modding at a later stage? Balanced opinions welcomed!

There has probably been more written about Davidsen, pro and con than most dealers. Use the search function, and you will have a wealth of info at your disposal.

Thanks for your response. I have searched, but I'm after some specifics on the very recent DSN 112s in particular.

Since reps lose value, I assume you didn't mean investment in the literal sense. So whether the mods are worth the cost is totallt your decision As far as cost factor in the long run goes, Unless you have the ability to do those mods yourself it will cost you more to do them later. So if you have to have them just get it out of the way all at once.

Damn - I thought they were blue chip investments! But seriously, and I obviously need to be more specific, DSN fixes the lume and the cannon pin. The the crystal is saphire and AR coated and the watch (supposedly) pressure tested. The DSN 112 dial is reportedly one of the best and I believe (please correct if wrong) the swiss dagger swan neck movement is more accurate than most. So, and QC issues aside, what else needs to be changed?

You've about covered it. Any good rep will have AR automatically. Pressure testing is only good as long as you get it checked regularly. It is definitely a good thing to do but you should still stay away from water. There are no guarantees. As far as the rest goes, the watch will be hell on wheels under a loupe.

Fakemaster - great response. As I know you've said in the past, for $400 you can't expect it to pass serious muster, although some of the rep close-ups from other members look pretty darn good.
