So this is my first attempt at making a bezel pearl, it's not perfect, but i am pretty pleased.

I am adding in here that I made this one only by looking at pics online and I wasn't able to get any really good closeups. Now that I have seen a couple of pics, I think i need to shorten and reshape the next one, it's too short now to machine and difficult to handle too.

The story: After weeks of emails and harrasing people I was unable to get the "old school" avenger I was after, so I broke down and ordered the newer one from Ruby.

As you can see from the pics from a couple weeks ago it has no AR, no He valve, and the pimple pearl. I was pretty dissapointed with the watch overall, but I decided to try my hand at modding the pearl.

1. First thing I did was gently file the pimple down flat, it looked much better but still ugly. I didn't take any pics at that time sorry.

2. Next: Drill out the old pearl, i used a tiny bit and a drill press and once the bit got into the metal cup below the barely luminous stuff it spun it right out.

3. Get yourself a titanium screw and a lathe. I followed the basic steps from the link in the "Best Omega Guide". BTW Titanium is a bitch to machine this way.

4. Spend some free time grinding, filing and sanding your tiny screw into a bezel pearl.

5. Realize that the whole in the bezel where you want to put the new pearl tapers as you go in so it's not straight on the sides, so now you have to machine your pearl or bezel to fit. I did a little of both.

So here are the pics, its not seated exactly straight yet so it needs a little more dremel work on the bezel hole. Its funny that it looks like the hole in the pearl is off center but its just a little cocked (funny word) off to one side. I will straighten it out eventually.

Lume powder is in the mail for the relume.

Anyone who can take some nice macro pics of the He valve I would truly appreciate some as I may try to make on of those too (faux of course).

Final finished pics will follow eventually.

Thanks for reading!
