Hello all, hopefully I can get some constructive advice here for an issue ive got with a custom Daytona I ordered from Chazingtime.

So I received the watch today after a coupe of months from ordering. No problem with waiting as it was a custom order. $970 in value.

However what I received is not a solid stainless cased watch , but a plated watch that is already delaminating right out the box. I can fit a sheet of paper between the plating and the case up by one of the lugs and is only a matter of hours if its worn that it will catch and rip off.

I know these are advertised as 904 L steel and we all know it's not, but should you at least expect a solid case of a less grade of steel and not something plated for this amount of cash?

Everything else with the watch is on point, was extremely happy until I noticed this.

looking back at QC pictures there was a tell tale sign in the corner of one picture but when reviewed 1st time I did not notice and would certainly have not been expected to evaluate by a picture if this is solid or plated crap, should I?

I' ve emailed chasing time and await their response but your feedback and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You purchased apsf tungsten Daytona, it even says on the link that you provided. So it’s mean to be a steel wrapped tungsten case. Not solid steel

Just curious if you received it like that? Or did you use a knife to hack at it as soon as you received it?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. so does 'Solid 904L stainless steel case Cu-W metal to increase watch weight as per gen" mean a tungsten case wrapped in steel? that's not very clear and this I was not aware of but if that's the case then fair enough.

It arrived like this with a chip in the corner and as I rubbed finger over it I could feel the edge catching and peeling back. first picture showed a piece of paper I was able to insert to show the TD but they asked for some more pictures and I just used the knife to identify the issue to the TD as they assumed it was the plastic wrapper!

What I've noticed is from the QC pictures, now that I look closer there was a chip evident that I did not notice, so perhaps I should have been more diligent but the coating or wrap is peeling off. QC picture below

Wow the cracking is very clear in the qc photo. I’d definitely see if you could sort something out with chazing time. That’s pretty bad

Steel on the outside and tungsten on the inside is still relatively new in reps. The ARF DD 193g and THB DD both use this method for their watch cases. I believe gold factory and apsf tungsten oyster flex also use the same thing.

I’ve had a part chipped off like yours and I shipped it back overseas to the dealer and we changed watch models.
I hope you also have good outcome with this issue

Thanks for the information, if I had known it was a wrapped case I would not have purchased it as inevitably it will chip with normal use. That said I shall be more diligent when reviewing pictures next time !

I would hope that they are amicable and I would be happy to exchange it for a different model.
Waiting their response and will update once I get an answer.

Thanks again for the info.

Tungs
Worse case scenario you can un wrap and have it polished properly...
I would hope I do not have to go through the hassle and this can just be exchanged but can tungsten be polished to a gloss finish to look like steel? The metal under the wrap , assuming it is tungsten looks really rough.

Just insist on returning it, chazing had good service when I used him in 2022
The case shape would be completely whack if you were to try fixing it

Chazingtime resolved this problem, I was able to choose a different factory and they even refunded the difference. I would highly recommend them and their customer service 👍🏻👍🏻
