I fell in love with this watch early last year and had heard that it would be difficult to rep and would take awhile. Haven't been able to find any info recently? What options are available?

There are still no good replicas of the PAM438, the Tuttonero, unfortunately. 
As soon as a good one that merits our money appears, you can be sure a thread on it will appear.

Add me to that list. I may have more PVD PAMs than I care for, but that Tuttonero rep just begs to be bought.
When I searched very few threads showed up. Is this something we think we can expect in the near future? Say 6-12 months?
There is no saying. We can only hope, or maybe keep on asking the dealers to ask the makers to work on it.

Nowadays makers are just able to get a border line First Class of this watch (I mean a low or medium low grade of a First Class replica or just bordering simple very good replica status)
Above mentioned due to some reasons:
Movement: impossible to copy and even imitate and teh watch has Displey caseback. Bad thing
Dial lume and layout: It will have the same problems that PAM 359. read about this watch in PAM GUIDE.
Ceramic case and bracelet : No problems in this moment we can get a good but expensive replica, with a lot of discussions about colour as usually.
Bracelet ceramic.
I hope we could see some reps in 12 months (but this is a supposition because I have no news about).
