I purchased this watch about 2 years ago and now that I have gotten into this hobby I wonder if it is a rep or a gen. I purchased it as a Gen off of ebay... but the crystal has blemishes on it... leading me to believe that its not saphire. Anyway to tell without opening the watch?

Where can I get a saphire crystal for it?

I know you can tell if it is gen or rep based on the spacing between the subdials.... but i am no expert on this... am sure another member will be along shortly.

It must be a reduced one. What's the lug size and case dimension?

That looks like a gen reduced speedy. The subdial spacing is correct for reduced 3510.50. Does it not have a serial number on the lug?

Caseback shot would help to determine if its gen, as would a movement shot. Gens didnt have sapphire crystals anyway, did they. I thought they were hesalite. I dont know all of the iterations of the moonie though, so I could be wrong.

When you say serial on the lug... do you mean where the bracelets pin clamps onto near the case? I see a 3 digit number on each side (one on left bottom and one on top right).

Looks gen to me and it didn't have a sapphire , it was a hexalite crystal. Best way to tell for sure it take the case back off and take a picture of the movement for us.

So how do I get rid of the blemishes on the crystal? Ive used backing soda toothpaste and it seems to help but of coarse they come back after a while.

What do I use to take the case back off?

not all gens had saphire crystals. most of the older ones had hexalite or other polycarbonate crystals
