Crystal For BP FF Help

Did something really stupid. We are on vacation and brought several watches with me, had each in a nice pouch for traveling. Well, over the past few days after wearing one I put it back in the wall safe, but not in the pouch. Of course car keys, etc got put in there as well. Wore my RG BP this morning, and sure enough, a nice scratch on the Crystal from 6 diagonally toward 3.
My question is this Crystal really sapphire? I wouldn't't think sapphire would scratch like that? If it is, any idea as to were I can get a Crystal to replace this one?
Thanks

Most likely it isnt the crystal that is scratched, but the AR coating. I'd recommend taking a cape cod cloth to the crystal (with the rest of the watch face taped off) and vigorously polish the AR coating off. I think these have a double coating, so the one under the crystal should still be there, but with the top layer removed the scratch should disappear. Good luck!

I'd be very surprised if you've scratched the crystal by just putting it in a safe with car keys, my wife smashed a rep Tag into a lamppost whist walking past it and, while it looked bad at first glance, the dust and grit wiped off with some alcohol and left the crystal unmarked.

As above, you've either scratched the AR, or what you're actually seeing is a soft material which has been left on the surface of the hard sapphire.

Before removing the AR, take a pencil eraser and rub at the scratch. If it is another material then it will vanish, if its still there then its the AR and you'll have to remove it. I've recommended this eraser trick to countless people who thought they have scratched ceramic bezels to watch cases, and it has solved the issue in 99% of occasions to their amazement!

Good luck.

What about mineral crystal? Maybe he got one of those, but I have no idea how hard mineral is

Mineral crystal is often seen as junk around here, however, it is still pretty hard - certainly harder than steel.

Try scratching a glass jar with your car keys and you'll see what I mean...

Here is what the scratch looks like. I'm pretty sure it's the AR, but I will sure try the pencil eraser trick.
