Crystal Distortion + PAMs

There was a topic recently about how rep crystals are distorted compared to the gen. But the topic quickly took a tangent somewhere else :mrgreen:
Since I think this is an interesting topic, lets go for it!

Now. Quick question to the original poster: is this a rep, or a gen PAM? And WHY?

WL I have always wondered about this but I thought the gens were the same way. I am not a Paneristi by any means but I don't like the coke bottle effect.

I posted this picture to benefit the other thread, where the original poster (of that topic) _insisted_ that only reps have the effect you aptly named "the coke bottle effect". Interestingly enough, nobody posted a picture of a gen just to make sure.

The pic is of a gen 177. Even gen watches can't defy the law of physics now, can't it

Indeed... Not all genuine PAM has this coke bottle effect though. I have seen PAM250, PAM196 and 188 without this coke bottle effect (the rep is also without).

I guess this applies to Luminor series watch (handwound model) only?

Thanks WL for continuing this topic and thanks for the clarification from other member. Indeed I have a gen 196 without that 'coke bottle effect' and I looked at some of the gen PAM (e.g 164) in authorised dealer which does not have this effect either so I always thought it's only the fake PAM have this effect. This clears my worries.

just to supplement one more point.

The DSN 217 i bought have this 'coke bottle effect' which the gen 217 do not. so it is easy to tell by the panerisiti.
