Crystal Clarity

I have just received a pam 029 noob and the crystal seems so much better than my 390. I understand the dial colour has some effect on the clarity but this 029 just looks amazing. My 390 is single ar coating and I think the 029 is double. A friend of mine has the 111 noob with double ar and it doesn't look this good either.

Just wondering if the 029 noob model is using a completely different crystal or what?

The 390 is from the H Factory and uses single Ar, the Noob 029 used double Ar on the crystal, I had a 111m from the Noob factory with doulble Ar and it was amazing, single Ar on both 029 and 390 is as per Gen....

Most watches are going with double AR now - I think it will be a matter of time - any watch with double AR is much more appealing.

I think its almost the other way with pams. There was a sudden craze for single AR and all the latest models only have a single layer. There is higher risk of them scratching but they do look better.

I believe the gens do have single but then again the gen crystals seem to have better optics.

I think the thickness and curvature might be playing a part too. My new 029 doesn't distort at all but my 390 does...

The double ar looks great, but is no gen like.
...and later comes scratches on the top side.

I realized also a difference between noob 000N (latest with single AR) and 177N H-fact with also single... the noob 000 sapphire for me is more clear. Maybe because of the Titanium case from 177?? the 000 dial is just a little bit "more black" for me and the H-fact saphire seems to got a little greyish color... but just to realize really when side by side

hey, little bump here

anyone got the Ti 177/176 and one other base pam with polished ss case to compare and maybe confirm?
Is it maybe the glossy ss case that makes the sapphire more clear?? :thinking:
Or more from quality of sapphire...but I thought the H-fact is better in that case than N...

I thought the last 029 batch had a single AR layer. My 029 v.1 have some swirls on the outer layer but is my daily beater!

I noticed on some of the newer editions it says colorless AR as per GEN ..... Allegedly done by vendor who provides does it by Swiss Genuine Standards .... I am anxious to get my hands on a new Noob PAM11N with Swiss ETA movement .....

Everything I have read places this version as one of the most accurate to date ...... crystal clarity looks to be VERY good without the discolorations associated with previous models .... I started collecting PAMs at a GREAT time ..... Quality is really getting better .....
