Just got my big fat 036 Ti crown and looking to install myself...
I know how to remove the crown/crown stem from movt.
but how difficult to remove the crown from the stem?
need special tools or reg. pliers will do just fine?
If I manage to do it, is there any adjustment afterward to be made to ensure proper fit with case?

thanks!

Can you give us some more details? You mean you can't reinsert the winding stem at all or it only goes in part way or.......?

the stem goes all the way in and then I tighten the screw to lock it in the movt
but when I pull it out to set the time, the stem and crown comes out completely...
Is there any tip as of how deep it has to be when I tight it up for good?

I believe it should be all the way in when you retighten the screw.

Will it wind and set the time?

just file the bottom of the screws till you have the right length...pretty easy.

Great result, and you've learnt a thing or two about modding Pam reps along the way. :)

Now, remove the crown again, and introduce a small bevel on the inner crown side teeth, ha, ha. These crowns come with outer teeth bevel only, so to make it look really good, that's what you should do, IMO...it ain't hard at all, been there done that :)

thanks babola!
but a little detail that still is bugging me...
the crown sits too close to the case: is there a way to fix that?
otherwise, it has been a great experience modding this watch.
so far I made the strap, changed the crown, and modified the CG to fit.

next up, I'll start working out the details on my 127 ;-)

Unfortunately not much you can do...except if you find yourself a new slightly longer crown stem (or get a new one and cut it to size). Then the crown would sit just ever so slightly off the case, giving you that required distance beetween the crown and the case. Now, you have to be careful and not overdo it i.e. over-extend the distance beetween the crown and the case as you may end up with an unsightly gap between the two. Reading your post above, you've already ground off the CG feet so making this mod aon't be a possibility in this case, unless you're OK with shaving off the metal from the lever tip that pushes against the crown, to be able to "lift" the crown off the case.

These so called "Ruby" or "Angus" wide crowns come with a notoriously shallow 'neck', almost non-existent, which ultimately pushes the crown completely towards the case, leaving no gap between them, whatsoever.

good luck,
babola
