Crown plus the stem pulled out while setting time?

Hello i got a arf submariner and i got it serviced a 2 months ago today it was like an hour behind no issues with time after getting it serviced but anyway when i pulled the crown to set the time the crown and the thin part stem? All came out watch still working i just pushed it back in and tightened it but confused

If the stem is still coming completely out when you pull on it, your keyless works need to be reset. This requires the movement to be de-cased and the hands and dial to be removed.

There’s also the alternative technique to reset it without decasing the movement. I tried it recently and it worked for me. Mark Lovick demonstrates how to here.

That's a good approach to keep in mind if your stem stays in but won't access position 3. I had forgotten about it since most of the scenarios I see are the setting lever getting fouled and not allowing the stem to stay in. Under those conditions you're pretty much resigned to a dial side fix although I have on occasion succeeded in coaxing the setting lever back into place using a strong needle in a pin vise, through the slot below the stem hole.
