crown mod for an asian 111h?

is it worth modding an asian 111h with a new crown or should i just look at re-investing in a nicely premoded pam from davidsen?

was thinking of relume and canon pin fix for it if i can change out the crown but if that's not worht it i'll just look into getting a premodded one in the future. probably will check with vaccum later.

If you feel that the Asian movement is good enough and has the correct bridges and you are happy with the dial and CG, then I would use the one you have and go for it. The fat crown and some Vac luv will go along way to making this a valued watch.

yeah i'm pretty happy with the movement, just hte lume, crown, and canon pin is all.

how much would that estimate to be?

and where would i get a fatter crown? even a stock fat crown on some of the newer reps are better than what i have (i think).

Vac will have all your answers. I think he has access to some better crowns through his Chinese sources. I can't remember what he charges for a cannon pin fix. The one thing about his resources though is you can't beat his lume work.

i'll look into vac. I'm good with the CG and PIN, more bugged with the crown. will check with vac, thanks guys.

Here is my take on it.

Although DSN 111H will resolve most of the flaws on your current watch, it will create a list of other problems.

Vacuum can definitely make your 111H much better (the concern may be affordability - not saying you can't afford his service, but do you want to afford it on an asian movement 111H) & If you get the CG modded by H_U, it'll get closer and closer for sure.

You'll basically end up with 3 flaws after Vaccum & H_U's mods

1. Wrong shape "2" & small variances in the fonts
2. Wrong shape CG - it needs to be curvy
3. Wrong movement

The crown will look better after H_U works on the CG - he can shorten the distance between the case and the CG "GAP" by grinding down the CG's feet - which creates less empty space between the crown and the CG.

Or another solution is just to install a FAT crown - PALP or Ruby's crown that lacks a few teeth (latter option requires you to either get a longer stem or grind down the CG's feet for fitting).

Not trying to be too anal about these things & I do think it'll turn out great. But as mentioned above, not sure if you want to invest quite large sum of additional money for the mods.

get a new modded one and keep the one you have and put it in a box in the closet..

in a few months take out the old one and compare it to the Davidsen PAM and then decide if you want to mod the old one.

I am pretty sure you will end up selling it... I did.
