How much force is typically required to open up the crown lever? Seems like I have to pull pretty hard on mine to get it to open. When it closes its seems like its very strong though.

Consider yourself fortunate!!......Most lever problems center on being too loose....It will become more so after some use...

Yeah, a loose crown lever is a dead giveaway that the watch is not genuine.

Since we are on this topic, I actually have a loose crown lever problem. What's the best way to fix it?

You have a few choices -

1. Replace the stem (longer one)
2. Replace the crown to a thicker one
3. Grind down the CG's feet
4. Create more space by putting an extra rubber ring

I have tried 1 & 3 and were succesful - of course, I left the actual job to the master Vaccum ^^

use sanding paper and take off material of the feet from the CG.
i use several diffrent grades sandpaper, fine files, or a DREMEL in a vice. it just takes patience.....did on almost all my watches.
