Crown guard will NOT screw in! Help?

Hi guys,

Had been wearing my 359 quite often for nearly 2 months. Was trying to set the time today as noticed the guard guard leveller was a little loose so I decided to tighten the screw where suddenly the whole crown guard fell off. Tried to screw it back but it will not screw in as it does not seem to catch the treads or that the screw seemed to be too short for it to catch the treads. Check the treads on the case and it was fine as the screw manage to screw in without the crown guard.

Any help on how to solve this issue? Been reading about filing down the crown guard to make it thinner but am unsure whether that will make it worst. Any help will be useful guys!

Cheers

Are you ensuring the crown guard is homed/seated correctly on the case? Some PAM's have a very slight recess, snapped to accept the crown guard. Also make sure you are trying to fit it the right way round too.

Yeah im sure that it's seated correctly on the case with the "reg tm" engraving facing the right way and the screws lined up to the holes on the case. But as I tighten it, it just continuously turning and not catching the treads on the case.

Measure the screws, order slightly bigger threaded screws off the internet.

Another option is to use superglue, but that means your watch can't easily be serviced in the future.

Too big if op is talking about kw359.

Correct site is 1,6mm, if I remember right. I had Similar problem with kW312, and I came to conclusion that there is something wrong with the threads in a case or really bad quality in screws.

I just purchased a whole set of 500 pcs screws from eBay cause I didn't know what size to get. The diameter is 1.2 and the length range from 1.6 to 2.4 so hopefully one of it will fit.

I thought that it was the treads in the case too but there's no issue screwing in the screws without the crown guard. My guess is that the screws were never screwed in to begin with and the CG was held in place with some kind of glue.

The first thread or two can get messed up inside the case. thus when you have the crown guard on that 100th inch of metal on the CG will be enough to not let the screws reach to the second or third GOOD thread. So when it screws in with out the guard you will notice the screw drops into the hole first, then starts to screw down.

You can also try and put REMOVABLE loc-tight in the holes and let it dry overnight. then slowly with wet loc-tight on the screw, screw in the crown guard.

But hopefully in the batch of screws you get there is a set with the correct diameter and a little longer to get past the damaged threads.

I had the same problem with few of my PAMs, on lug screws and on cg screws. Not sure if this can solve your problem but what I do is to turn the screw to the left until it makes "click" sound and then I start to turn it on the right. Always work for me but not sure here's your problem.
