Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy my first rep soon and have decided on a PAM because there’s just something about their cleanness and simplicity that has stood out to me and I’ve been really impressed by the quality of the super-reps that I’ve looked at and read about on this forum. Thanks to all of the hard-working members that have put in countless hours of energy and time to provide users like me with beginners guides, model databases and even comparisons between the quality from the different rep factories.

I’m looking for a 44mm and I've narrowed my list down to either a 005, 111 or 411 as my first (and definitely not last!). Looking for a seconds at 9 model, also decided to go for KW factory. I’ve spoken to Trevor and he will be able to source me one easily.

I have looked for the answers but haven’t found exactly what I’m looking for, so in layman’s terms can anyone help me:

  • How long do PAMs normally run for once they’ve been fully winded?
  • How do you know how many turns to wind it? How do you know when to stop winding? Will it be obvious?
  • Is there anything to be particularly mindful of when winding?

Cheers! :)

As for how long. ...i just can't keep my hands from winding my pam all the time. But my 177 lasts more then 48h.

When winding it is at first almost no resistance. Then there is some resistance. And finally you hit a full stop. Very obvious.

Be gentle. Don't break it. Don't force it.

The models you list feature the very solid 6497 movement. It takes 35-40 turns of the crown to fully wind it. Power reserve should be at least 40 hours and up to 56 hours.
Good luck and enjoy your first rep!
