I think it looks pretty cool. Have even seen some vids on YT where folks have done this to their Gens!

Thoughts amongst the RWI community members?

I have a TC LV custom built by RSH that's without the cyclops and I love it. I know I have seen other people do that to there gens on TRF

Totally cool with it. Seems like the kind of thing you'd never have the balls to do with a $7K gen [emoji12].

The rainbow AR on the rep ceramic sports models has always been an obvious tell to me so I removed the cyclops on my Noob v3. Cleans up the crystal a bit and makes the dial pop that little bit more what do you think...?

It always makes me chuckle that gen SubC owners that swap in 114060 crystals tend to get shunned by the RWF community whilst waxing lyrical about the clean look of the SD and No Date Subs go figure!

I've had subs without the cyclops. I think it looks good both ways.

I'm with pretty much everyone on the thread. It looks great either way, so to each their own.

With or without - both are fine.

Its funny no-date was mentioned. My wife's uncle has owned a no-date for as long as I can remember. Didnt occur to me until years later that it had no cyclops.. And looked great. I am thinking the mag bubble might actually detract from the dial, ie sea-dweller looks fantastic.

However, I dont think I could ever do it to my gen.

JoeyT, your de-mag'd TC LV looks great, that's what prompted me to post!

I have Subs both with and without the cyclops, and I prefer them without aesthetically, but I also appreciate the cyclops for being period correct and original.

I like it both ways. But I think the cyclop is iconic for a sub. Might as well go with a seadweller otherwise.

Love those TCs with no cyclops, red seconds and the black DWO! They are not correct, but look awesome!

Gen owners do many mods with their watches just like we do. Go over to TRF and there is an amazing ongoing thread over there highlighting some of the cool things they are doing. Using the red Yachtmaster seconds hand, removing cyclops, and swapping datewheels are super popular and very common mods. Very common.

I love the no cyclops look. Pjsayer is going to laugh at me for saying this, but I still haven't gotten around to replacing my 1680 crystal with a T19 yet. That is a great look. In fact, back when the 1680 was new, the ADs offered customers the option to have either the standard crystal or a T19. It was no big deal.

Don't forget the PT 1680 bezel assembly can be a bit of a PITA to accept gen spec crystals Menny (as you well know [emoji12]) which is one of the reasons I jumped on my latest 1680 as it had a custom made retainer. I have a Sternkreuz T19 and a flat service style T39 inbound so I'll post up some pics when they arrive.

As for my Sub C I can't make up my mind whether or not to a) fit a gen crystal with cyclops, b) buy a new v5 114060 when it is released or c) simply keep it as it is as a Sub-Dweller mod. Here's a nice thread on TRF of a chap who customised his Sub C with typical mixed responses from fellow members. It seems modding your Rollie is tantamount to crime!
