She only wore the watch about three times but kept it on a watch winder. Since it was getting very little wrist time, I planned to list the watch for sale but discovered the movement was not working.
From my notes, the watch originally came with an A2824 movement, so I ordered a replacement Seagull 2824-2 movement for my watchmaker to install. Upon inspection, my watchmaker discovered that the original movement in the watch was actually an ETA 2834, not the expected 2824. According to him, the main difference is that the 2834 has a slightly larger main plate but is otherwise functionally identical to the 2824.
Rather than swapping the entire movement, my watchmaker expertly took parts from the new Seagull 2824-2 and used them to repair the original 2834 movement. The movement was then fully cleaned, serviced, regulated, and waterproof tested. The watchmaker also cleaned/polished the handset and cleaned the dial and dial markers. During the full service, all gaskets were lubricated as well.
The watch is now running smoothly and accurately, with a freshly serviced 2834 movement. I included pictures of the repair, service, and waterproof test from the watchmaker.
This watch is an absolute stunner, with the 2XAR crystal really showing off the dial color.
