Here is a comparison text between the authentic Rolex Explorer 1 reference 214270 with the MK1 dial and the CLEAN FACTORY version of this watch, which is equipped with the MK2 dial. I will compare all the essential features, such as the bracelet, finishing, polishing, dial, movement, and crown.

The authentic watch comes directly from a revision, is a 2010 model, and the CLEAN watch also shows some signs of wear but is from 2024.
In the photos, you can see the authentic watch on the left side and the replica on the right side.

MK1 Dial
: White Gold 3-6-9 markers
MK2 Dial: Lume 3-6-9 markers

1. Bracelet and Clasp:

Authentic Rolex Explorer 1 (214270 MK1):
The bracelet of the authentic Rolex is an Oyster bracelet made of 904L stainless steel, offering excellent tactile feedback and a comfortable wearing experience, with a finely crafted "Easy-Link" extension. The indentation above the crown is longer than on the replica. The gap tolerances are looser compared to the replica, and the fit is absolutely perfect. The bracelet has rounded edges and wears comfortably. I particularly like the sandblasted inner part of the clasp.

CLEAN FACTORY Version (MK2 Dial):
The bracelet of the CLEAN FACTORY version is (probably) also made of 904L stainless steel. The bracelet has a similar visual design, but often the manufacturing details are less precise. However, I have to say that the quality can vary. CLEAN is now known as the best bracelet manufacturer for Rolex bands, and the bracelet here is also top-notch. The edges are rounded, but not as much as the authentic one, and the crown on the clasp is welded on poorly, which is an immediate tell, along with the overly rounded indentation near the crown. I am surprised that the inner side of the clasp has not been sandblasted, whether it's technically not feasible or a flaw that was overlooked. The bracelet has a bit more play than the authentic one, which has zero play.

2. Finishing and Polishing:

The finishing of the CLEAN bracelet is not visible anymore as I refinished it with a 3M sanding pad. I believe the grain is a bit coarser than with a sanding pad. For my needs, it is sufficient, but I just wanted to mention that CLEAN may differ in this regard.

3. Dial:

Authentic Rolex Explorer 1 (214270 MK1):
The MK1 dial of the authentic Rolex Explorer 1 is known for its clear, minimalist design. The hour markers are set in 18-carat white gold, and the hands are also coated with a layer of Chromalight luminescent material. The "Explorer" inscription and the "Rolex" logo are printed precisely and sharply. The dial has a deep black color, which can shine differently depending on the lighting conditions. The lume, after being charged, glows pleasantly without being too bright. The 3-6-9 markers are fully in white gold.

CLEAN FACTORY Version (MK2 Dial):
The MK2 dial of the CLEAN FACTORY version differs in a few details. The dial has a similar black color, but the finishing of the hour markers and inscriptions is less precise. The markers are accurate, and the lume has been applied evenly. In some cases, the lume can be weaker or uneven, but this one is flawless. The print quality is excellent. The 3-6-9 markers are filled with lume.

Final Thoughts on What Sets the CLEAN Apart from the Rolex:

In my opinion, this is one of the best replicas I’ve ever held in my hands. The differences are so small that you really need to be well-trained to spot them. All of these were discovered under bright white light, with a magnifying glass, and zooming in. As a daily beater, this is a perfect watch. Only the VS3132 movement could be an upgrade for the movement.

I hope you enjoyed it.
