I have a KW 505 and really love that watch--and have a Gunny 'Asso' en route for it! I have a hankering for a 386 because I actually prefer PAMs with crown guards to the luminar series. I see that Kuvarsit now offers a titanium 386 and that Ale rates it very highly in the review. My question is: how does the brown colour of the 505 (which I really like) compare to the colour of the 386? Are they the same brown? Have the makers managed to eliminate the purplish tinge that prevented me from buying a 386 last year?

Not sure how the color of the 505 vs the 386 compares (I have the 505 and love it).
however, if you're worried about the color of the 386 being a tell, I'd say your bigger concern should be that the 386 was cancelled by panerai before it ever went into production, as I understand it.

Yep, I believe you are correct. Real problems with the composite case not standing up to sweat! I don't care about that. I fell in love with the genuine when I saw the pictures. I never try to pass off my reps as genuine anyway, so that isn't an issue. Finally, nobody around here has heard of Panerai, let alone seen one--and neither does anyone care. Thus the reason for my question is that the purplish tone sounded horrible and I don't want that--but I'd love it if the 386 was the same colour as the 505.

Either PAM 505 KW or PAM 505 ZFac-TSW are brown colour without purplish tone. They are just a bit chocolate, like gen, but not reddish, not greenish not purplish.
The colour is almost like gen, differences no noticeable even in fast side by side comparisons. You would need indoor light and careful inspection side by side to tell some very little differences.

Wonderful, Ale, thank you for that...... I guess. I think you are encouraging me to spend more money 
as i understand it 386 was delayed not cancelled, as I have seen an AD in my town have it on their list
