Clone A324 winding pinion

The winding pinion on my 3K Aquanaut has failed. Hand winding was met with resistance after having it for about a week, so I popped it open to find that 2 of the teeth had sheered off.

Does anyone know of a replacement part that might fit this movement which isn't a gen Patek part? They're obviously very expensive.

For those interested, I didn't treat the movement poorly and I also don't consider this to be indicative of the clone movement in general. I am just one person who's had an issue. For now I've put the watch back together without the winding pinion, so it needs a bit of a shake to get the rotor moving and kickstart the movement but is otherwise functional. I'll keep it on a winder to avoid this. Issue aside I really like this watch so would like to get it back to proper function if possible and not overly costly.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately this is what you have to deal with when having a clone movement especially in their baby stages. If buying a new watch or sourcing a spare part isn't an option, I would look on the Bay and Chrono24 first.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I also agree that this is par for the course with a new clone, it was certainly something I weighed up when looking to buy one but the quality of the rest of the watch swayed it for me. In a way I'm lucky it's "just" the winding pinion and I still have a functional watch otherwise.

doubt anyone will know a matching part that will fit as you're the first member with that issue.
you should ask the TD or try every 13 tooth winding pinion.

this shows the fragility of that winding pinion gear. all 3kf owners should shake the watch to start rather than hand wind.


there's no value in partying out unless someone wants a 3kf case set

Don't mention that you popped the cover off or it may void the warranty.

From your guess is it the pinion that was defective from factory or is it the result of too much force being applied while manual widing, thus being the symptom of an overall lack of "smoothness" ?

I didn't hand wind this watch any differently to other watches I own, gen or rep, so I'd have to say that my guess is that the movement was defective. Either this part or engagement with the next wheel along not syncing up nicely, causing something to fail and the pinion coming off worse.
