Chronograph not resetting to zero

My wife is banned from my watches. She decided to "see how the chronograph works", now my Chronorighter does not reset to zero. It resets to the 3 minute mark. I don't know what she did, but it is not resetting.

Everything else works fine, having that one hand crooked makes me crazy.

How can I fix this? Thanks.

If I understand correctly, the chronograph still works but the second hand just doesn't reset to the 12:00 position. It resets the exact same position every time, just not the 12:00 position...right?

If that's the case, it's probably as easy as resetting the hand (pull it off, and put it back on in the correct location. It may have just slipped.

Just to make sure - your watch is an automatic, right? If it's quartz, it's actually very easily remedied.

If it's an auto (A7750), then watchblog is correct - the hand has slipped and will have to be re-installed. But this is not for the faint of heart - it requires removing the movement and that you have a hand setter. I'd recommend a watch smith.
And in the wife's defense, she could have broken the movement by doing something wrong, but she couldn't have made it no longer reset correctly by playing with it. It would have had to be loose before she got it, and it would have been a coincedence that it slipped when she was playing with it.

It is an A7750. Each time I try to reset it, it resets past 12:00. Sometimes at 5, sometimes at 3.

As far as the wife goes....you are probably right. I'll go to my local guy to see if he can fix it.

Thanks for the advice.

If you have this prob with quartz, pull out the stem to the date set position and push one of the pushers, it will move one of the crono dials in 1 min increments. pull out to set the time and you can do the same with the other dial. At least I think this is how its done, been awhile. Could be pull out to date set and push upper and lower to move each dial hand.

Re the 7750 movement:- your local guy should be able to do the repair but you may find that it will "fail" again. This has happened to me. You may need a new hands set which you can get from the dealers as the lugs have stripped.
cheers

Don't worry it is not an expensive repair either way.

1) tell your wife to buy you a new watch
2) tell your watchsmith to use some glue, that will do the job

I had the same problem with a watch. I fixed it with a little Loctite (242).

Francisco has a couple of nice writeups (depending upon exactly what your problem is) that show how to fix the issue the correct way.

LOOSE HAND TUBE:
Some times, when removing the hand, the hand tube comes loose from the body of the hand. The RIGHT way to fix it is this:

HAND TUBE IS TOO LARGE:
If the hand tube is too large, there's a nice writeup by francisco on how to fix it the right way, but it's a bit more involved:

for a quartz movement, pull the crown out to time setting position, and press the chrono rest button till it reaches 12 again, then push the crown back in
