hi everybody,
today I want to tell you a short story why this forum with a lot of its people is amazing!
when I got into watches as a hobby I was more interested in design and the history behind certain companies but never was really interested in the mechanics or the heart of the watches...that changed a few months ago, after I read "all" forums, books, catalogues and so on, of the companies I prefer in the last years, and there was nothing really new to explore...
One day I had a problem with one of my reps, it was my 029, and needed help. but as you all know, it is quite difficult to go to a watchmaker in your town with your rep on your wrist and tell him your problem and he would be glad to help you...in most of the cases he won't.
So Chris3007, contacted me and offered his help, which was quite cool...I send my watch to him, he solved the problem and everything was fine. After that we kept talking a bit more and one day we met to do a live talk and I got in real contact with AP ( and got infected ) and I brought some PAMs he tried on. We talked a lot about our hobbies and while we were talking chris mounted a new movement in one of my watches...we started to talk about movements and how they work and so on...then chris asked me if I was interested to disassemble a movement and reassemble it....and hell yes I was...
So we met another day and started to move tweezers and miniscrewdrivers and everything you need...
it was quite an experience. After that I tried some work on watches alone at home and was collecting my experiences on some easy work.
The I did something that I should not do. My PAM 356 lost its PR on some day pretty fast and I wanted to locate the problem and solve it....quite ambitiously for someone who works on an A 2824 and even this not with routine....anyway I disassembled some parts of the watch and for some reason within a second the movement fell apart in quite a lot of parts and I was lost....I tried in some nights to rebuild it ( with a lot of help via pm by chris) but one or two things did not work for some reason...I lost my patience and there were a few moments I would have taken the watch, the parts and everything on my desk and throw all that out of the window and smash my head on the table...at least I did not...would have been a pitty.
today I met chris again and he helped me to fix the problems I got with the 356, told me where I have to do what and gave me a short lesson in "how to reassemble an A 7753 in less then 5 minutes"![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Awsome - thanks again, mate.
I promise I will get my routine on the easier movements before I take the next attempt on a 7750/3![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
The main thing I wanted to mention is that there are a lot of very cool guys like chis3007 who spend a lot of time here to help people like me, share knowledge and make this forum a great place - thank you for that.
nothing more to say...just one pic of the 356...running like a champ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
