Chopard GT XL Stem Problem

Hi Guys, I have a Chopard GT XL on which the stem has completely detached from the (Asian auto) movement. The watch runs fine, I just can't set the time/date. My local watch smith wants close to 100 Euros to fix it. Should I sell it for parts and buy a new one or is there an inexpensive way to fix this? Any advice appreciated.

It depends on what version of the watch that you have... Do you mean the A21J version or the version that has the A7750?

If the entire stem has pulled out of the watch and you have the A21J movement, it might be cheaper to just replace the entire movement... They are only about $25-$30. All that would need to be done is swap the rotor, dial, hands and put it in the case.

If you have the A7750 version, and the entire stem has come out and will not stay in, then the keyless works is out of place and it should not be THAT expensive to repair. The dial and hands do need to come out... but once that is done, its fairly easy to reset the keyless works.

Thanks for the reply. I assume the movement's a 21J, it's a non chrono version watch. Where could I buy a replacement movement? Could I install a Swiss movement? Maybe I'll try to do the swap myself, although I've never done it before...
