Review of my experience to obtain a Rep of the Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Quartz.
Did not see this watch at any TD site. Emailed 6 of them and 3 replied. 1 said could not source; 2 said they could source. After a few emails, 1 could source another model and 1 could source this watch.
Advice for Noobs - Keep questions to a minimum (like 1) during each interaction. Hard since you have an idea of what you want and you just want to get it. Price should be about the last thing you ask about (when requesting an unlisted item). From your research you should have a pretty good idea of the price range that will be quoted.
Ordered from Asian7750. QC pic sent to me without asking. Paid with credit card and there was no surcharge/discount.
The Dial
At 3 o'clock, REP has a '15' marker which there is no space for on the GEN. Date colours are inverted, but still looks ok.
Power reserve indicator at 6 o'clock on GEN is labelled 1-12. On REP this sub-dial is the second hand with the associated 0-60 labels.
The 12 o'clock sub-dial on the GEN is labelled to 30 and on the REP to 10.
Pros
a. Snailed dial looks good. Some REPs lack the definition.
b. Chrono works.
Cons
1. Markers/hands not luminous.
2. The finish on the bezel is poor under magnification in the pictures, but looks ok from normal viewing distance.
3. Dial is 47mm on the REP, while 44.5mm on the GEN.
The Crown
Pros
1. Pushers and Crown have racing car look.
Cons
1. Pushers and Crown sit a bit high.
Final Notes
Price was $148+$30 shipping = $178 for a quartz chrono that was a special order.
Arrived in 19 calendar days to Canada (tracking number never worked).
Other than the bezel quality, I am pleased with the overall look and feel.
