Rcently bought an IWC Pilot from CHazingTime. Their website says for this watch ">50m water resistance". I have several replicas and chose to wear them 24/7 including in the shower. This watch now has a fogged dial due to water ingress. Is it reasonable that ChazingTime promotes ">50m water resistance" on each of their watches knowing that there are not even splash resistant. What I find confusing is that I have several much cheaper replicas, this one was USD$400, and they are fine to even swim in.
basically IMO , if Chazingtime knows that their watches arent water resistant then dont advertise it!! The lady at Chazingtime had the gaul of asking "why do you shower in a watch with a leather band?" If I chose to swap my bands each couple of years I would have thought that would be my choice. Very bad customer service BUYER BEWARE.

Hi and welcome to RWI! Glad you found your way here.

It's not chazingtime's watches. They're factory assembled watches, chazingtime has nothing to do with production or factory warranties. If you had used your 6 years membership better on the forum you would know not to believe the water resistance advertised by factories. The TDs tell you to not swim with them. You were lucky this is the only watch that fogged.
It is usually not well regarded when a longtime member's first post is a TD bashing, the more so when it demonstrates not having done a bare minimum of reading in the forum.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

As a new subscriber, you've already been directed to this thread, please read carefully and look through the linked additional threads:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Most of the information you need to know to start is there. If you're preparing to buy, read the stickies before ordering. When you're finished, you can continue learning by reading the stickies in all remaining sections. If it's stickied, it's important information.

If you intend to sell, read the sales rules and all stickies in the sales section with particular care and make sure you understand each single rule. Sales rules infraction is taken very seriously here. As a new member you are not eligible to sell. Using the sales section is a privilege, eligibility must be earned, make sure you know and understand how.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to @eBoy or me, we're happy to assist, advise, direct, explain. Don't hesitate.

Don't be afraid to post noob questions in the new members area. In doubt, use the flame free zone. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere in the new members area, please reach out to @eBoy or me. Mutual respect is of utmost importance to us. On the other hand, we're grown-ups and are supposed to be able to deal with a bit of irony, don't take it personally, ever, a bit of irony never harmed anyone. If you laugh at jokes, you'll make friends faster.

This forum is a treasure trove of information and benefits from the engagement of all members who take their time to share their knowledge, help each other out and have some fun. We hope that you'll benefit and enjoy this platform as well as contribute positively to it.

If at any point you feel to contribute also on another level, feel free to pm the boss (trailboss99) to become a supporter and get some little perks with the status (editing rights, for example).

Enjoy the forum.

You do realize you're not shopping at a legal retail operation like Amazon, with warranties or legally binding consumer information on web sites, right?

Replica watches have a guaranteed water resistance of exactly 0m, even if they cost $1100. What the TDs write on their web sites is completely irrelevant. 20 mins of research on RWI prior to your purchase would have made you aware of this...

No experienced rep veteran would ever even just dare to dream showering with a rep w/out a rep-friendly and independent watchmaker comfirming the WR first.

PS: That you have other reps that you can swim with out of the box is great, but you really just were lucky... It's a hit and miss.

I think we all pretty much know that the water resistance claims are b.s. just like the 1:1 claims. I’ve never understood why so many of you guys shower with your watches. I know hot water is bad for the gaskets and all that soap has to leave a film.

All of the TDS say right on there websites not to swim or shower with the watch on.
You seem to have missed my point. Yes they say this, then why do they contradict themsleves by advertising >50m water restistance. would it not be more honest to remove such a claim from their website advertisments. pretty simple fix really.

So what are you implying. becasue the item is not legal then you condone dishonest advertising. why is what they calim on their websites irrelevant? why have a website at all if it doesnt represent you product, unless their intent is to mislead the public. simple solution is just remove the claim of >50m water resistance. problem solved really

When I study law, there is a term called "Man on the Clapham omnibus", which means a reasonable person, a normal-minded ordinary person, nothing extraordinary. So whenever I see posts like this, I always think "Is this a reasonable behaviour"? In this case, is it reasonable for a man who bought a replica watch from China, to put it on for shower and/or swimming? Given the fact that most people know how bad the environment the rep factories are, and how bad their QC is.

One might be new to the rep game but shouldn't be a total stranger to products that are made in China, right?

Should they say it's 50m water resistance? No. Should you really believe what you see and put it on a trial? I am not going to answer this one.

Murica is a country where everyone is babied with white gloves, you are fuqing pampered as shit.
Get some worldwide views and stop being a li'l PITA. (that's pain in the ass btw)

If you ever go to a country like say INDIA, do you expect those people NOT try to fuck you over and charge you 10x what they normally sell shit for?

Dude, you just saved me the hassle and pain of having to come up with a polite mod-like reply. 😆

Would have been at a loss for words for that anyway. 🙄

I'm not condoning anything, @Palisser. We are just telling you how reality looks like. If you want to live in pink rainbow unicorn fantasy land where your drug dealer makes sure to exactly tell you what's in his XTC pills he sells, so he pays a few grand out of his own pocket for detailed lab analysis, that's your problem, @Palisser, not ours. The world isn't perfect. Learn to live with it...

Expecting that an illicit fake watch business is "honest" about it's advertised WR ratings, I find so ridiculous and hilarious at its core that I'm actually blown away by the fact that anyone would be so naive, blue-eyed and delusional to indeed admit that.

I'm not going to say anything more about this topic, because any follow-up question or comment by the OP would quite frankly appear to border on trolling anyway. 😂

I understand what you are saying OP. But, first and foremost, you have to understand that the TD's will in some cases, say what you want to hear. Would you purchase a used car without having it checked by an independent mechanic? I hope not. Kinda seems you would though. That would be stupid. "But he said! But the ad on Craigslist said!" Like it would be stupid to believe everything you read in an ad for illegal products. It is up to you to do your due diligence and have the item tested. A gen can leak, or get cloudy. As I said previously, I never wore my gens in water. I don't need to know what time it is in the ocean or the bathtub.

Any watch, rep or gen, that gives a water resistance rating does not consider that rating applying to warm or hot water. The heat from the water causes the metal to expand and that can create gaps between the metal and the gaskets which can let water into the watch.
