Case swap on original Rolex Datejust

Hi guys!

I own a 36mm Two-tone Datejust from the 70s with some background to it since was my fathers watch so there is sentimental value attached to it.

Since the watch is from the 70s it comes with plexiglass instead of a sapphire crystal and when I asked my local AD if it would be possible to exchange it they said no.

So now I am wondering if it would be possible to exchange the case so that I can get the sapphire xtal? I am thinking about this right now because the watch is due for a service anyhow.

If you guys got some feedback I'd be really happy to hear it!

There is a conversion kit from acryl to saphire - I used it for a gen 1601 and it worked very well.
