Cartier Tank Solo SuperRep Question

Hey yall,

Ive recently fallen for the Tank Solo XL and I'm between if I should buy gen or rep. Ive been going back to Cartier and have tried on the watch 3 times now. After doing a butt load of research on the available rep models, it seems that AF makes a very solid Solo XL rep (with trash strap as expected) and ZF has a nice rep but had some issues with inaccurate crown - but I find it very interesting that neither the AF or ZF made it onto the NWBIG list - not even as first class. Ive read that someone has the AF Tank XL and gen model and said he can see absolutely no difference between the two side by side. Does anyone have an explanation why AF didn't not make it to NWBIG.. is it just not popular enough? Or are there actual tells that are more significant that no one else seems to notice? Thanks a ton.

Numeral fonts is wrong, thus AF tank solo is not considered a "super rep," and just barely a "first class NWBIG."

The distinction between "super rep" and "NWBIG" is often very arbitrary, as seen from this thread. Ultimately it is a matter of personal opinion - what may seem like a deal breaker / tell to one person may be an irrelevant consideration to another person. I'd suggest looking through the forum threads and making that judgement for yourself, as you are going to be the one wearing the watch.

FWIW, the AF cartier reps are very nice, I have their Tank Solo myself. I believe ZF is no longer producing certain models, as I was unable to get their Tank Solo from my TD.

A SUPER REP would be one that has no obvious tell that you can spot quickly.

Meanwhile, a FIRST CLASS are very good reps, very close to Gen, but with one obvious tell for anyone knowing what to look for or with a side by side comparison.

Sorry I think you miss understood me.
I meant about the numeral font flaw, if you could elaborate on that, because I'm not seeing it.

The "I" appears to be slightly narrower on AF. it's apparent when "I" is combined with another (i.e., II, III, IIII, VII, VIII) with a wider gap in between.
