Cartier Tank MC - Need Some Guidance

Hey Guys,

I was hoping some of you Cartier fans can help me out and provide some guidance. Before you jump down my throat, let me first state that I did all of my research. I have checked all three major Fora and i am getting bits and pieces of mixed information.

To my understanding there were several versions of this watch made.

Option A - 23J Asian Movement (Rotor states 25J)
Option B - Asian Movement (Identical to Option A but 27J on Rotor) - initially miss-priced and mislabeled as something else on Puretimes page.
Option C - Asian Movement with bad finish and 27J drawn on the rotor - quite sloppy and not engraved
Option D - Miyota Movement (Rotor States 25J)

Naturally this can get quite confusing - i know that the Gen has 27J on the rotor, seems like something rather simple, yet the factories missed it. From what I have read, it apears that most people are suggesting that the Asian 23J movement with 27J engraved or just the 25J engraved are the best option.

But i have a few questions, which seem to have been missed in all of the discussions.

1) What is going on with the cannon pinion - on the gen it is nice and small, but on the 'preferred' rep, it is wide as can be.

2) What is going on with the Date Font, many TD pictures have misaligned and rather small font for the DW.

Am i missing something or have these issues been addressed? It appears that the Miyota version also has a large CP, and Date doesnt look that great. I feel that this is an excellent watch and even better a beautiful dress watch with a lot of potential. I have done all of my research on this rep over the last two days, but i find myself asking the noobist of noob questions - which is the best Tank currently on the market?

I feel like i am missing something, so if anyone has any info, can you please fill me in.

I don't know if mine is option b or c, but I'm very happy with it. I think it must be option b, since imo the engraving is not bad at all.

If you're interested, it's from Tony at asian7750, but it should be available from any TD.

See thats what i mean - you have the 27J on the rotor - but is it written or engraved in the metal. And my only other concern is the CP. It s huge compared to gen isnt it?

It is huge but I wouldn't let that stop me from buying it. It's actually really close to gen.

Great gen you have there mate.

Do do you think you could take a pic of the caseback for comparison with the rep? From the looks bellross's pic the engraving looks a little off and sloppy.

im in the same boat as Ruski here. Trying to decide which version to go with

Appreciate the effort fiveo.

As rusk already pointed out, the engraving on the rep does look a little sloppy. I know it might be nit picking but just don't get why can't the factories get something as simple as that right. Its the only thing thats preventing me from pulling the trigger on this.

I've no issue with the rep movement looking nothing like the gen but the engravings is another story. Maybe I'm too spoilt by the quality of the PAMs out there.

How I wish there is a closed caseback version for this. Would even get the Tank Solo in quartz as per gen if theres a good one out there.

The tank anglaise midsize has a closed caseback as per gen and its very accurate. I ordered the large model because of size but that has a display case back.

sorry to bump up such an old post but seemed better than starting a fresh new one.

Has anyone recently purchased a Tank MC?
I came across the below and curious to see your thoughts. have the old problems with the model been resolved?
Also, it looks like the long hand is a lot longer than the original or is that just me?

Thanks for help
