Hi guys,

just got QC pics from a TD here. The rep at first sight is great! all the other QC pics angles are great for me except one.

Please advice if I'm being anal or if this is acceptable. I see the IWC guys obsesses over the smallest of details like an otherwise almost 100% perfect "7 day PR" and just because it doesnt have a "sunburst" or the color is "off" they return reps to the TDs for these minuscule flaws. Not to mention the Rolex guys, so I don't think I'm exaggerating here but my TD insists this cannot be perfect and if he gets another one it will also have another flaw, which I'm certain it will, but to me this one cannot be unseen once its seen and its not so minuscule.

The pictures of this very same model from intime, pure time, qs watch, etc all show perfect dials without any flaw whatsoever. Apparently this version of the cartier caliber from JF is VERY good.

My only complaint is (I know, the 4 square indices at 3,6, 9 and 12 have the lume of different sizes, not aligned / centered inside of the square) but I don't even care that much for that, my most important complaint is, the III roman numeral has white paint smudged and bled into the blackdial. I repeat, on the pictures of this same model from all TDs the dials don't have any of this and the indices lume is perfectly made and all numerals perfectly aligned and printed.

this is my QC:

And here I highlight in red circle the flaw that bothers me, the other ones are forgivable to me but this one I think not.

Please, your opinions are very valuable and will prove useful to me.

thank you!

Ask for a new one. Bleeding paint is not acceptable.

Thanks this is what I thought but TD is telling me this is "the last one" of the black dials, and only has white dial left. I think I will reject and try another TD and ask for refund. Is this an acceptable fair trade practice here?

Well... Cartier advertises the Calibre models as 42mm, I've seen reviews online for the gen and they use a micrometer to gauge it and they're actually 43mm. Why would Cartier say 42? Maybe 43 sounds too big for their potential customers as there used to smaller sizes with Cartier brand.

This white dial looks Enormous on the wrist ! I tried it at the AD. There's also a 38mm version though it's not been repped.

On the other hand the 43mm black dial looks and wears smaller, that's why I want that one.

The white has nicer DF... Ops it's a gen. It's always a tossup to be honest.. The QC pic has great CP... My diver has a very slight flaw on the 'XII' lume and I sent the first one back for failing bezel lume at '12'. The QC pic has a less desirable DF then others I have seen.. The bottom line... It will always be something... and then... You will scratch and or ding it!! And then it really will be crap. Lol.

Yeah overall the ZF/TF Diver and the JF Calibre non-diver are pretty good reps. The ZF is even better because the case lugs have the curved shaped very close if not identical to gen and the JF calibre non diver has ridiculously curved case lugs, they are even rounded lol!

You asked if it's common for dealers to go to the market to pick your watch up, take photos of the watch, make sure it runs, and then wait for you to approve it and then send your money back? Lol, Maybe that might happen by proxy, but typically they ask that you choose another watch. They don't like to refund. Those dealer pictures are sometimes provided by the factories with the best examples so your dealer might be right, all of them have that flaw. If your unhappy with it, do what you have to do, it's your money. ;) If you can live with the flaw, great!

This flaw was so tiny though. Miniscule. I mean it's not like the crystal had a crack or a hand was missing. If you guys think the dealers are here to pick you up a gen quality rep, you're going to be very disappointed. In fact, they read these threads. If they think you are going to be really nit picking, they'll just ignore you. If you really felt the watch wasn't up to your standards, that's fine, I'm on board with that. Just be careful how you approach it. Just my humble experienced advice. Build a relationship with your dealer, it will pay off.
