Can't decide on which Black Bay

I was planning to purchase a Heritage Black Bay today but I'm struggling with making the decision.

I'm looking at one with the rose dial and one with the shield. I like the riveted bracelet on the version with the shield but it seems like the rose version is closer to gen. Also am considering getting the riveted version and swapping out to a HR rose dial but that may be a dead giveaway that it's a rep and ideally I would like to stay as close to gen as possible.

I would appreciate the feedback and thoughts on what defects you guys may see between the two versions and which one is closest to gen

On the rose dial the rose has a misprint, so that is different from the gen, but it does use the correct type of movement since the rose version on the gen uses an eta.

On the shield, the movement is incorrect as Tudor now uses an in house movement. The movement isn't visible since it is a closed case back. That is all I know about this topic but hopefully it helps.

Second link its from a charity auction "only watch" so only one in the world was made, this one made in 2015 reached a price of $375,000.00 Swiss francs so it's an instant tell as rep (i have it and I give a flying f about this), the other one it's for sale, gen looks terrific and reps looks really nice IMO.

I'd go with the rose dial, as the single missing petal is hardly detectable (I'm pretty OCD but that is really too much). Here's why, taken from one of my former posts:

In regards of thickness, the rose dial is much better IMO. Part of the charme od the Black Bay is (was) the slab-like case profile juxtapositioned with the thinness of 11mm. This resulted in a robust looking and elegantly thin watch.
The in house Tudor has done the same mistake as Omega (300 MC) in building too high, looking chunky and overly bulky.

In terms of dial aesthetics, the rose logo get's the edge. To me, the shield is too serious and austere, while the rose adds a nice and playful touch in contrast to the toolish overall appearance. Additionally, it is matches the Tudor name and has been around with the brand from the very beginning on. The round script (smiley) looks more pleasing to me, as the straight writing looks too broad (same with the Pelagos.)

Im equal about the bracelet.

To sum it up: imo, get the rose BB, as it follows the theme of contrast in s more pronounced way.

True dat, if you will do so it will give you a fantasy watch.

Out of the box any of the BB reps isn't great. Both, the rose logo version and the shield logo verion had very flat printing, anyone who's seen gen will spot it on immediately.
It's always surprising for me when ppl call ZF BB reps as "super-replicas" :hehehe:

As close to gen options:
- There is no way you can get gen (or decent aftermarket) parts for shield logo - so just disregard this version.
- So, try to get nicely used rose logo version, install HR dial (+lume aging), HR hands (+aging). If you are a nato guy get gen nato as well, rep nato is a lol. It will probably give you a budget 1/4 of the used gen.

Btw, you second link is for BB One.

I have the shield version in blue and am beyond happy with it. I prefer the shield dial to the rose and the difference in case thickness isn't an issue considering it's the case with the gens as well. Tudor isn't Rolex and isn't nearly as known, even in the watch community. You are 100x more likely to be called out for a minor detail on a Submariner than on a Tudor.

Knowing how Andrew and his website works, I wouldn't get to excited about a certain rep until you ask him if it is in stock and available. He is notorious for having a lot of reps on his website that are out of production for a long time. I bet you at least 20% are not longer available..Good luck..

IMG_6258.JPG Enjoy it ;) it's a beautiful watch and deserves to be called a super rep. Ofc a 1to1 comparison with both watches next to each other will show some minor differences, but for 8-10% of the original price, that is more than acceptable. Plus not many ppl know about Tudor as has been mentioned here :)

A true NWBIG :)

I really love the Black Bay Black at the most... But man... The red triangle is so dark... It's an instant tell... Hope they will fix it maybe in version 9...:(
