I just installed the new cannon pinion and the hour wheel on my Fiddy Swiss 6497 movement. The parts were ordered from Davidsen, but it doesn't seem high enough I think.
I checked the part numbers, and the ones from Davidsen are:
Cannon Pinion part # 00240.6497.02 - 134013
Hour Wheel # 00250.6497.02- 134016

Shouldn't the right part numbers be rather:
Cannon Pinion 3.15mm part # 00240.6497.03 - 134014
Hour Wheel 2.15mm # 00250.6497.03- 134017
that I think would differ from the ones received?

When I was crewing with the keyless works the click spring next to the clutch shaft just flew away.
Does anyone have couple of spare ones? I am sure I'll lose a few more 'till I get it right.
Thanks.

Hi 007

I have the same experience as you and I lost one movement because cannot find the part that look like leg that locks the stem gear. The spring pushes it and fly away. I use this movement for my practicing now.

I replaced high cannon pin from DVN about 5 of them myself succesfully but on other 44 mm models, not Fiddy. However, for the Fiddy, I changed the complete movement with series E movement with fat pin I bought from Andrew. I saw it offered on other dealers also. But the one from Andrew is gen ETA 6497 and it comes with high cannon pin ready. I got 3 movements from Andrew. Still 1 movement left for my PAM172 project. It fits perfect and the cannon is high enough without any problem at all.

When you do it by yourselves, the hard part is when you install the bazel back to the case. Since the Fiddy can allow to take the movement out from front only, then you need the tool to push the bazel back. I made the tool using PE plastic so it strong enough but will not scratch the bazel.

So this is just to share with you what I did.

Cheers.

Thanks mate. You helped a lot. This E0581 case made me think. finally got the bezel off and removed the movement through the front as you suggested.

I have also found the click spring. Amazing. I can't believe it myself. Got the movement completed. The new pinion doesn't look high enough though.
Could someone verify those ETA part numbers for me please?

007, Enzo said exactly what happen.

When I did mine, the hour hand can keep as it is. I file off the minute hand tube from the height of tube 0,60 mm down to 0,45 mm as the photo shows below

I use the sand paper #800. Attach the sand paper onto the hard piece of small steel so you can sand off in more flat. I also used the vernier to make sure the height is 0,45mm. I learnt this from the detail instruction I found in RWG written by ziggyzumba. The photo I show up there is also from him. I also save this instruction in my file and don't know how to send to you.

Since you do this you can also file off the tip of cannon pin which Vaccum also posts in his section of how to do. I did it by file off the tip of cannon pin using sand paper #1500. Then use Venol to polish it. The result is very good and satisfy. It is flat and smooth.

Good luck.
