Are destro models like the 217 strictly for lefties who want to wear it on their right hands or can righties wear it on heir left hands too?

I think it's a matter of your own preference. The only difficulty I can think of, is that you always have to take off your watch, when it needs winding!

Yup, why not...actually some pro diver watches (Citizen for example) have been designed for exactly that kind of wear, with crown facing your arm. I'm guessing it's simply more practical in real-diving situations when you'd want the crown out of the way from foreign objects and sea flora :)

cheers,

Destro on left

-

Just go mate. If anything, wearing a Destro on lefty makes perfect sense: if one is diving the CG is on the inside, and hence, lest prone to catch on torpedo / fish netting and other obstacles.

Do it all the time:

I wear mine on my left wrist . Like Babola said, my citizen dive watch (forget the model right now--but it's the classic one with the analog/digital) is like that.

There was a post like me on risti

and the answer was "Why not?" :)

Personally, I like the crown guard facing outward (outside my sleeves).

But then again, I do not own any destro (yet).

Are rep destros water proof, so you can dive?

No reps are certified as w/p. If you want to try that:

(1) buy a good one; and

(2) have to be ATM tested.

DSN certifies that his are w/p - 3ATM, which means I have risked splashing around w/ them. But not diving.

Funny, I bought a Seiko Orange Monster for a shade over $100 - and took it to 27m last mth in Fiji. No probs.

Suggests that a good design, and production scale, can be at small cost, a robust design, can equate to good w/p!
