So I came across these Panerai pictures while browsing through RG.

Can someone please help me identify the model # and the dealer who I can get this from?

1) The left one.

#1 is a fantasy watch. It's a 2533 dial in a 6152/1 Destro case. Davidsen would be where I'd look for a custom build like that.

#2 is a PAM172

#3 is a 6154, again Davidsen is where I'd look. Go to his photobucket under "Vintage watches" or whatever...

I think DSN is the only one currently offering a 172, yes.

Not sure if he's offering the Ti case again. At one point I think he was only offering it with a SS case that had a Ti look PVD coating...

I'm no PAM expert, but I think the 2nd one is PAM172, "44mm, Grey Dial, 300 pcs", quote from risti

#3 is a fantasy as well -- it predates DSN and his 6154 models.

That replica came out just prior to the first 1950 copies and uses a mix of watch model parts, it was later morphed into a a very poor version of the 1950 (very common in replicas 3-4 years back)

MM20 case but with a screw crown and the dial is taken from the 3646-6152 prototype I just mentioned in another post .. the (Soldered lug RAD) so that is a c1940s model, the movement is wrong for that model because it;s a Russian copy of Rolex movt. - the original model was a sub second and therefore ANGELUS movt, not a ROLEX ... the third funny quirk is the dual rear case with window and solid cover. the ONLY Panerai GEN ever to have this feature was the 2533 shown in the list above as #1 ... but that watch should be in a 3646 RAD case!!!

#3 is a true frankenstien monster of parts, slapped together to create a watch that never exisited except as what, 1, 2, 3, 4 different models. Which is quite an accomplishment in itself

LOL

Thanks for laying all that out there, enzo! Your knowledge of all things Panerai is as sharp as ever, I see. 8)

I like to think of the PAM vintages as kind of no-holds-barred, though. Given the military's propensity for simply using what's at hand, I think any of these combos *could* have been possible. It makes it a little more fun for me, anyway.

I still regret selling the custom 6154 that I had DSN make me. I need to order another...

mind you, swap the dial with a brown DSN RADIOMIR PANERAI Base dial, put a DSN crown tube/crown on it and leave the solid caseback on the back and suddenly this watch is a very accurate looking 6154. The movement makes sense then as they used the Rolex 618

Oh, and there is a 5th error I forgot! Double end screw lugs, replace those with spring pins as the double end lug screws were only used shortly on PreV Panerai in the 1990's, not on Vintage models ... yep ... #3 doesn't really have anything right when tallied up. And it's not a DSN watch, it's pre-DSN in concept and application. Replica watches made from loose parts sitting around from other pre-exisiting replicas.

on the other hand the PAM172 is a grail replica. Especially the old TITANIUM [psuedo-TANTALIUM] case set. Hard to find except as used. I have the chrono version the 192 and it's very cool with the mix of Stainless Steel and TI parts. These two models made TI-oxi mods one of it's best sucesses.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply THAT watch was from DSN. Looking at the crown and tube, it's obvious that it isn't. What I meant was that DSN was the only one I was aware of still offering that dial...

I was really refering more to the original photo post title which says 3) DSN?

And it's an example that is pretty much anti-DSN ... I am pretty sure you can still buy these if you look around. They are good project pieces when pulled apart and recombined.

how can the #2, the pam 172, be from DSN? i thought that all DSN watches did not need a canon pin fix..

thanks

DSN wasn't the only dealer to EVER carry that watch. I just believe he is the only dealer to STILL carry that watch.

Hooligan,

So do you think that it needs a canon fix?

The one in your picture? Yes.

One from DSN should NOT need it, though.
