Can I change the color of the stitching on a watch strap?

My wife just got a beautiful PAM049 (white face - 40mm). She would really like to keep the rep strap that it came with, but she would like to modify it to have pink stitching instead of the black (on black alligator) that it currently has. Is there a way to go about this or should I have a pro modify it?

Any thoughts?

Canada, but in Hungary... for now
Hi
It's definitely doable, but if you haven't had any experience with stitching straps before, you might want to get professional help.
A few years ago, I took one of my straps to a local sewing center and a kind lady did it for me for free.

Since most rep straps don't last long, maybe you should have one of our very talented strap-making members make her a custom one.

If your stitching is white, easy fix : run to your local Office Depot, Staples, or what not stationary shop, and get a big set of nice permanent marking pens, pick one that has 'pink', color the stitches, and Bingo, done !! ....................... good luck !

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll give a tutorial a shot and if (okay, when) I completely fail, I'll get some help.

And I'm in San Diego. Everybody seems to come here on vacation, though, so...

You can try to do it yourself, however it would be best to have a whole new strap made. And probably just as feasible.

Two issues going against you from the start are:

1. Rep strap construction leaves a lot to be desired. They do not use the proper materials and that makes it a lot harder to work with.

2. It was most likely done on a machine. So it will come apart easily, but the holes will not line up if you choose to sew it by machine again. So you are left with handsewing, which will require some tools.
