Wrong movement+open caseback+ wrong case material and color =no good for me. Other than this, appears to be a decent rep...

The gen PAM 386 is made of a COMPOSITE. It is the result of an electrochemical process of ceramization of the aluminium, this material is harder than the ceramics normally used for cases in watch-making (zirconia), and also harder than metals like steel and titanium, as well as being lighter. Thanks to its qualities of ductility and reliability, the Panerai composite allows for complex and extremely precise workings and is the result of processes that, up to now, were employed in the creation of components for the aeronautic industry and for car and motorcycle races requiring the highest levels of performance.
The below reps are made of aluminium DLC Coated, and due to the low weight of the aluminium, the rep have a weight similar to the gen. But it is much softer than the gen.
A sandblasted finish in the rep gives to the watch a ceramic like aspect as the gen has.
The look is similar to the SS sandblasted DLC Coated but the weight is much closer to the gen
These reps made of Aluminium DLC Coated are more close to the original PAM than the SS Coated ones. It seems the aluminium reps are the best current choice because they are even cheaper than SS PVD coated version.
The gen PAM 386 has a special Panerai “Manifatturaâ€movement P.9000, therefore, for the rep it is impossible to be close to the gen with a display caseback. Please bear in mind if you are looking for a big accuracy.
Usually these replicas have a little “purple†colour, improved in the last version V1.1 made of SS DLC coated (see the next replica review), but actually the gen is not black either, it is really brown. Concerning weight it is better going to the Aluminium PVD coated rep. In any case the material will not be accurate to the gen Composite. Before the introduction of V1.1 made of SS DLC coated the best choice was the V2 Aluminium DLC coated, but now there are some doubts, because leaving aside the weight issue, the V1.1 SS coated version is more accurate, since the SS coated version V1.1 has other improvements (see next replica comments) read: http://www.puretime.co/blog/261/. Therefore, this decision is a taste question to be resolved by the buyer.
The PAM 386 replicas V2 made of Aluminum DLC coated can be considered as First Class reps, with the restrictions due to inaccurate movement with display caseback and the material issue.

I've heard the coating on the case is very soft so it chips very easily. Stay far away.
