I was working on one of my projects. I was running great until I decided to remove and replace the hands. It's a Swiss ETA 2824. Prior to removing the hands, I pulled the stem out from the release as I've done a million times successfully. This one was no different. Stem came out easy as it should. Removed the movement tab screws and popped the movement out. Keep in mind I already hacked it. I attempted to remove the hands but the hour hand was difficult so I had to somewhat pry them off. Everything going back in was ok. The new second hand had a little issue so I did have to put the slightest force to get the second hand on.
I reassembled everything and everything seemed fine but I noticed my watch would stop intermittently. If I give it a good tap, it'll get going again. Power reserve is good and watch is well winded. Sometimes it'll stop after a few seconds, sometimes even after a few min but it seems that it won't go past a few hours at best. I've tried removing the stem and re-inserting it but am getting the same results. A good study at the balance wheel and it doesn't look like there is any interference with anything..
What could be wrong? I'm not an expert but I have some experience working with these movements. I'd hate to send it out if it can be a simple fix. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, RWI.
