Hello gentlemen. I'm a new member and I must say it's a pleasure to be here, and I've only been here five minutes. I'm glad I found this site before making a purchase.

I want to buy a Tag Calibre 36 'Super Replica' as I believe you call it.

I want for it to be a good watch disguised as a great watch - I don't want it to be cheap. It should have some weight to it, you should be able to see some depth in the face, etc. I also need it to be reliable as an every day watch.

I see that a lot of you have chosen puretime.com for this watch. Should this be my hands-down decision, or should I reconsider? Is buying elsewhere a better idea? Is there anything I should know?

I'm a fairly regular Puretime customer, but I bought this watch from Tony who was $60 less for the same piece. It is a phenomenal rep and you will not be disappointed. No obvious flaws, hefty stainless steel construction with surprisingly good bracelet (rubber strap is $10 less), and great double AR. Generally I am not a Tag Heuer fan and I debated buying this one, but I'm very glad I did!

The watches are exactly the same. Tony tends to be cheaper than other dealers for the same item, plus he is fast and sends QC photos. Every watch I've ordered from him has been perfect. Here is mine:

Hey ekovalsky,

Is Tony a trusted forum dealer? How many items have you purchased from him?

Thanks
Dom

Tony? You mean this is someone I can actually talk to in English and make me confident in my purchase?

Does Tony have a return policy if I'm not satisfied with the quality?

Edit: I'm looking on both sites and I can't see a phone number. How come no one lets you call them?

You should search and read just a little bit on the forum before asking some questions.

Specially FAQ and Sticky threads of the forum.

1-Most dealers speak english. Not as a native lenguage but you can comunicate with them with no problems.

2-If the watch doesn't work the dealer will change it for another watch (same model but working). But... "return policy if you are not satisfied with the quality?? " ...Well , before ordering take a look at the pics of the site, read the description on the site, search on this forum about the model you want... read, ask, read, search again, read, ask, read.... And then, if you have no doubts, buy it.
This is not "El Corte Ingles" this is not "Harrods".. those are replicas with no guarantee and if you don't like it when you get it, just sell it on SALES & TRADES FORUM of RWI...

3- Phone number?? Why??? Are you calling Tony in Guangzhou to ask him if the watch is fine?... C'mon... just send an email.. or 2, or 75 emails... You will get replies for all of them with the info you need.. QC pics and everything.....
Phone is not necesary... I would say it's useless in this bussiness..... And I don't know where you are from... But calling China is not cheap at all from most countries... Unless you get free calls around the world 24/7.... And notice the time difference.. maybe you call a dealer at 4:00 AM (local time in China) while you are having tea at 3 o'clock in the evening....
Not a good idea .

And BTW.. that Calibre 36 is amazing.. I bought it from Tony and it arrived 3 days ago and it's superb!!

You can buy it confident... You can trust the trusted dealers .. that's why they are trusted ;)

Thank you for your advice.

I wanted a phone number because somehow, I thought there might be replica dealers in the states. I wasn't aware they were all in China.

I've gone and ordered it from PureTime, after having overcome my original apprehension.

Welcome Grand Sport!
This hobby requires a lot of reading, research, and ultimately trust.

There is only 1 dealer I know of in the US (I'm sure there are others, but you will most assuredly over pay), and he carries a very limited inventory. Most dealers are in China where the reps are made and the government turns a blind eye (or are involved?). Bad things happen to dealers here in the States - too risky.

Remember when communicating with dealers, English is a second language. If they open your email and you have written a 9 chapter essay with multiple questions, descriptions, and demands, you will most likely not get a response. If you send 19 emails about the same 1 or 2 watches, you will stop getting responses. Keep your communications short simple and to the point. Then either buy or don't.

Know that waiting for delivery is hell. It will take longer than you want. Along the way tracking will be useless and the dealer will not know any more than you do. Sometimes it will take 3 days, other times 3 weeks. The 3 weeks is closer to normal.

Also, this is not Amazon or WalMart. All that is "guaranteed" is that you get a working watch that looks quite similar to the one in the picture you ordered. That's it. Period. End of sentence.

Oh, and don't forget to post pics of your new baby when she arrives. That's a very important if unwritten forum rule (read "requirement").

Good luck!

Tony speaks pretty good english and is usually pretty good to deal with. I'd recommend him.
