Bought this in a M2M deal on RG and figured Id do a review on it. Believed to be a V6F 1:1 Rep as seen here. http://www.intime.co/tag-heuer/1879...st-edition-white-dial-on-leather-cal1887.html
Right off the bat, I will tell you this looks very close to the real deal and will take either a Tag expert or a side by side comparison to tell the difference... Or to hold it, but more on that later.
The white with SS bracelet is the Rep, the White with Leather is a Gen (Calibre 16 though). Sorry for some of the crappy pics. Using my phone.
Close ups of the dial and case. Only major flaw i see is the Tag symbol. The A is wrong when compared to a gen. But, like I mentioned, unless you take a close look and either have a gen to compare to, or know the symbol by heart, it isnt something the average watch wearer would notice. The rep is also a little bit thicker than the gen.
Moving on the Bracelet, which is where I feel you can tell its a rep by the feel of it.
It has been some time since i have had a SS Carrera Bracelet. Damaged the one on my Cal 16 a year or so ago, but the rep definitely doesnt feel the same. Feel lighter and flimsier. However, they did get the links correct, with the way they interlock. The clasp is also not as refined, but that will look better with some wear.
On to the movement. It is keeping great time, right with my gen that was recently serviced, so thats a plus. Rotor is a little noisy, and the decoration isnt quite spot on, but its very close. Also, I believe this has the incorrect rotor. I believe the rotor that comes with this model carrera is shown in the 2nd picture of this section. They did however, get the ridges to line up correctly. This use to be the quickest way to tell a rep.
Correct movement?
Movement that was cloned.
Finally, the Lume. This is another area they didnt quite get it right. Hit both watches with a High Powered LED flashlight for about 10 seconds. The gen 1st, the rep 2nd. You can tell the difference. Also, the gen is quite a bit older, but the lume is still powerful.
Overall, pretty impressed for my 1st high quality rep. I'll wear it around my Dad the next few days and see if he says anything. Hes a big Tag Heuer Fan.
