I want to build something like this with this movement, do you guys think it is a good idea, although the original use a CORTEBERT movement, it is too pricey for me! hope my end result will be good..

Ow come on, I am NOT guilty!!! Just sent you a picture.. :) I got no idea on how/what fits together, am still eagerly awaiting parts!
There is a guy offering to make movement rings on the other forums, pm me if you cant find the thread. I'm not really sure for which cases tho.. I think DSN's :?:

As for cases and molnija's, heres a quote off RG:
Fitting: The Molnija is a perfect fit for the 44mm Pam (Pam 111h etc), in fact its probably the easiest movement I have ever added to a watch. The Pam crown screws directly onto the Molnija stem although the stem will need shortening. The hands aren’t quite the right size but a tiny crimp and they are there.

Anyhow, I think there are some people here with experience doing these, I think we all want to hear more from them [smilie=angel10.gif] [smilie=angel10.gif] [smilie=angel10.gif]

Niko

Do you have a unitas movement ring lying around? If you do you can try fit it on the russian movement and see what difference there is.. I think it should either work or be reaaal close to working :D.

I think so because of those posts from repgeek about Molnija 3602's fitting easily in the 44mm cases with the "original" unitas 6497 rings.

Damn I want to fast forward a couple of weeks lol

cool down a little bit. the crown won't fit directly on the stem, because when the stem is shortened there will be not threads to screw the crown on. either you'll have to mod the molnija stem or (I think it's easier) mod an unitas stem to fit into the molnija movement.
and: the molnija is 16 lignes while the unitas is 16.5 lignes which means that it won't work without a custom spacer ring.
but: it's a nice project and surly it's worth to be done

thanks for the input merlin, i am already thinking of ways to get everything in... working with DSN as he also does custom moljina projects!

DSN is a great source for such a project because he has also the correct hands for this movement so you don't need to broach the unitas hands.
