HI all-
I have a DSN 183H and looking for a new strap. Deciding between a 3rd party or OEM. I measured the straps he sent, and they seem to be a constant 26mm (3.5mm thick). It appears that the OEM strap is a 27/22? I know the first number is the dimension between the lugs, but what is the 2nd number (dimension of buckle width) OR taper width of the longer strap (one with holes)? Would the buckle from DSN's strap work well with an OEM strap, or should I be looking for a 3rd party strap that is 26/26?

As far as straps go, I am looking for a formal strap, one that would work well with a suit (atleast dress shirt/slacks). I am assuming this would be a thinner high quality black strap (calf or croc). I know most like a thick strap with their Panerai. Does anyone know what the thickness of the OEM straps? I see many here choose straps between 4.0-5.5mm thick.

I apologize if this question is very obvious, but I am a noob.
Thanks.

There are many experts here that can get you to the right underground strap suppliers. I would as H_U....he is a strap god and he has great knowledge but you have to make sure that you don't tell him you are voting for McCain.

How about black Ostrich...is looks amazing on my 005 that I got from RBJ.

Good luck and check the sales threads too.

1. Yes, the OEM Radiomir straps are 27mm/22mm.

2. Yes, the 2nd number is the width of the strap at the narrow end. In order for the long side of the strap to fit INSIDE the buckle, they need to both be 22mm. A strap that only tapers to 24mm on the long side wouldn't fit through a 22mm buckle on the short side of the strap.

3. If you have a 26mm buckle, you need to be looking for a 26/26 or 27/26 strap. Otherwise the buckle will be wider than the strap and it will move around and won't look very nice, either.

4. OEM straps are pretty thin. Less than 4mm, for certain. If you're looking for dressy, you can't go wrong with an alligator strap. Black calf with black stitch is a nice option for serving both "dressy" and "casual" duty, IMO.

Hope this helps.
