Broken Panerai Advice

Hi all,

I am still a newbie on watches. About 14 months ago I bought a PAM688 S VSF 1:1 Best Edition Blue Dial on Blue Leather Strap P.9001 Super Clone V2 from a reputable dealer on here. Admittedly I have only wore it on about 5 occasions.

On the past few occasions the watch just stops. I can see the second ticker tick but the big hand doesn't move all the time putting it miles out of sync.

What is the best course of action for me? Get a full service? Sell this on here so someone knowledgable can fix?

Unfortunately part of the repgame. I'd imagine with a service it will be fine and work well. You can try local watchsmiths if you're honest about it being a rep but don't try a brand store, look at independants, it's good to ring around so you don't end up getting refused face to face as many won't take the work on. Other than this the site has people who will service your watch for a fee, obviously this risks posting it but i've done this a few times over the years and never had any issues. More often than not the watch came back working better than when i sent it if it was for routine service. Good luck!

Sounds like you have a loose cannon pinion. It should be an easy fix with a service and something any experienced watchmaker should be able to do without sourcing new parts. You could even try your hand at it yourself with a few tools and a few hours on YouTube. You basically have to crimp the cannon pinion since it should be a fairly tight friction fit.
